I'm a second year at my university already and maybe its my university but I have been having genuinely a worse experience with bathrooms. People talk of horror stories with high school bathrooms and lines and whatnot but I've dealt with way more genuine desperations here than high school.

Bathrooms feel scarcer across all the buildings, 90% of the bathrooms in the older buildings have broken locks, chipping toilet seats, clogged toilets, and some of the library floors have what feels almost illegally low amount of toilets. I shouldn't have to hold my pee for a test because the toilet has been full for the past 20 minutes!

In high school, I only had three minutes between classes to urinate. I planned out my route between classrooms/ restrooms very carefully, since I had to urinate after almost every class. Surprisingly, I can't remember any times when I really needed to go and wasn't able to. Maybe it was the result of my good planning, or maybe I just got lucky.

As I have mentioned in numerous threads of my own about this topic I can say college by a long shot. In high school they closed most of the bathrooms making it almost impossible to go except at lunchtime and they were in less than pristine condition so I ended up holding it all day. In college we usually have long stretches of time between classes and much more abundant and cleaner bathrooms overall probably because it's a private Institute rather than a public school so they probably can afford better.

Also in college since you are an adult you basically can go to the bathroom whenever you want and you aren't constantly under the supervision of when you can go to the bathroom. And usually there was an entire stretches of time between classes so there was plenty of time to go to the bathroom in college.

One thing I did notice that was at my first University they had a ladies bathroom on the first floor of the library but not on the second and third floor while they had men's rooms on all three floors. In spite of that though college overall was a far better bathroom experience than high school by a fairly wide margin. I can see from the results so far this seems to be the majority opinion, which does not surprise me in the least.

Colleges will tend to be more "hit or miss" because of the larger campus. You'll have older buildings with fewer bathrooms, where those bathrooms tend to be worse. You'll also have newer buildings with more, nicer bathrooms. You generally have more freedom with your schedule and probably have longer time between class than your high school "passing periods" allotted you, but you may also have the issue where you have 5-10 minutes to walk all the way across campus sometimes, which can make it tough to find time to pee.

In my own personal experience, it was kind of a wash between the two for the reasons noted above. My high school had no shortage of bathrooms but there was less time to use them. College seemed to actually have fewer bathrooms overall, particularly in the older buildings, but it was easier to just get up and go if it was really that bad. This is just my personal experience and I definitely saw more of other people being desperate while in high school. Part of that might be that I went to class in college less, but I'll throw it in as my two cents nonetheless.

This matches my experience as well.

@Kat_ie would love to hear about some of your experiences!
