female Demographics of ABDL, poll and specifics

Recommended Posts

Hi y'all!

I tend to mostly lurk here and kinda just hang out in the background but recently I've gone on a research kick involving diaper kink/fetish, and when I started I was a little surprised to see that the Wikipedia article is entirely out of date, so much so that it still uses the outdated "transvestism" when referring to some people that take part in this kink. I found this a little disturbing as a trans person and I wanted to keep going down this rabbit hole. To my surprise there are very few actual psych papers on not only diaper kink, but kink as a whole. Now this is interesting to me in a couple ways, one it could mean that the reason so many people are adverse and nasty to diaper lovers is not only a social misunderstanding, but a scientific misunderstanding as well. This has all gotten me thinking about what kind of demographics tend to engage with the online portion of this kink now that it is so widespread as an option. Now in no means am I a sociologist, I'm a broke college student who does programing for a couple bucks here and there, but I would really like to see the specific data surrounding this. In this form I want to ask question regarding identity, so I will have very specific asks about self identity and presentation. By the nature of this I want the form to be completely anonymous.

Thanks for filling this in if you did, I will post results periodically (once every other 2 days until stop getting responses)

Got sooo confused what I was looking at in the political section as a non American 🤣

Sorry it was confusing, I tried to make it as universal as I could, but the political spectrum is already a fairly shit way to assess political ideologies 😅. I choose to do it that way to keep it brief and easy to analyze.

Alright it’s time for the first batch of results.
Since I made that post I have gotten 54 submissions!
This is a really good starting place for looking at generalized facts and trends.

I am going to post the current charts below and break down what stands out to me.

Firstly: I thought it was interesting (but not unusual) that 84.9% of people identified themselves as male (that is 45 people), now I find that interesting as from who I have interacted with in this community I see more of a 60% male domination of the community rather than an astounding 85%. Now that can be for a couple different reasons, the first (and most likely imo) is that it might be the case that this site has cultivated a following that is largely male, and for one reason or another women tend to flock to other places such as tumblr. The other thing I found interesting in this question was that only 3.8% (2 people) identified themselves as transfeminine. I found this interesting and/or of note because the wiki page puts a massive portion of its content into the idea of “transvestism” within people who hold this particular interest. One might draw out from this that over time more people might come to the conclusion that they are indeed trans and not just a guy who likes to dress up as a girl. But I think that what this is showing is actually quite the opposite thing.

Secondly: It reflects interestingly to me that 15% of people found themselves in a position in relationship to being trans. This is very contrary to the larger ratio of cis to trans people in the larger world, meaning that maybe the hypothesis in the first question breakdown may have had more backing to it than I thought it would. It could also mean that trans people find kink spaces to be a more inclusive space and therefore they gravitate towards it.

Thirdly: VERY FEW GAY PEOPLE! I found this to be incredibly interesting because a vast majority of queer individuals I know tend to fall into some subset of kink, and with ABDL being in the top 10 fetishes (yes I know they’re different but also they relate highly to each other) I thought that I would see more people identifying ABDL to be queer. Now what did really interest me was the fact that 15.1 percent of people said that they were bi/pan instead of full homosexual. I think that this might reflect that more people are being open to trying all sorts of things that they might not have years ago specifically here in this community.

Fourthly: Who would have thought that a bunch of people on an omo forum page would be such massive NERDS (I say this with love as I myself fall into the nerd category). The most popular job at this moment is Engineering with a whopping 28.3% of the vote.

Fifthly: Pretty even spread with verse as the larger percentage, what surprised me was that more people consider themselves non-sexual over being bottoms. Maybe it's because bottoms don’t like calling themselves bottoms so they just picked verse (JKJK).

Sixthly: WAY more switches than bottoms which I thought was neat.

Seventhly: 52 out of 53 people called themselves straight diaper lovers. As a diaper lover myself, I appreciate this.

Eighthly: Way more messing fans then I thought I would see, which is kinda cool cause I know a lot of people think that is the main “gross” part of this kink.

Ninthly: A whole 10% of people wear 24/7, which seems both like the dream, and also very hard to do.

Tenthly: most people wear, wear medical and ABDL diapers, but pampers are starting to see an uptick.

Elevinthly: More than half of all people figured out before the age of 10, which was interesting to learn because Wikipedia says it's 13-15.

Twethly: WAY TOO MANY FASCISTS FOR MY TASTES. Kinda scary to see that. Mostly people tend to lean to the left all and all.

Finally: There was some polyglot who knows 5 or more languages and to that person I would like to give a round of applause.

Yeah a spectrum on only a single axis is an awful way of analyzing political ideologies. I should note that I believe the two furthest left options were not entirely accurate, marxist is a large umbrella term, and many marxists I have spoken to are far further left than most anarchists I know. Regardless it's still going to be interesting to see what people respond with.

Agree to disagree, I think that simply because of the fact that marxists believe that the state and hierarchy should remain, and that even though they do believe in revolution they still believe in a middle ground of socialism prior to achieving communism (or at least a marxist interpretation of communism), they by definition do not fall under the same "radical" umbrella as a lot of anarchists (including myself) do.

That is just my two cents on it, i'm using kropotkin's logic with a little flavour of chomsky. I know there are a couple other ways to think about it but when comparing marxism vs anarchism thats the way I would go about doing it

huh, woulda been nice to have an asexual option for the sexuality section, as opposed to just other. Mostly because there's an odd disconnect between the sexuality and position data.

Edit: Huh, more right wing reactionaries than I would've assumed. Woulda thought a kink community would lean in the other direction considering historical precedent and right wing rhetoric.

yeah I'm sorry about that. Thought about it too late.

If you do another one of these, it might be interesting to include age range and general geographic location. I'd have to guess mostly 18-25 for age and US east coast or UK, but there's only one way to find out, right?

I've always wondered about this type of demographic information on this site, so it's cool to finally see someone start to put it together.

Thats a great idea! If I do another one of these I'll probably also post to the discord and maybe a couple subreddits, and ill probably also add some more kink options on top of just diaper stuff.

It's that time again folks!
We doubled the amount of responses from 53 to 101!

I'm only gonna make a couple notes on some stuff and post the results.

An interesting thing is that more people enjoy wetting more than wearing, which is really fun to me

23% of people in this kink call themselves "left," which to me is really cool. Almost no people added to the fascist section which gives me hope to humanity

2 whole people speak 5 or more languages, which is kinda just insane to me.

I find it very interesting how many work in the field of engineering- now I do believe it could be due to the "lack of options". (Not saying your questionnaire isn't pretty extensive, just that many may section their work to engineering.)
I personally selected engineering, and work more specifically with networking and cyber security- which sometimes is attributed to engineering, but I'm sure you see the point.

The statistics for when people discovered the kink actually draws two kinds of conclusions: Either, it's something deep-rooted in childhood, such as an event, or maybe bedwetting, etc. that may develop something akin to a "trauma kink" (I forgot the proper term). Those who found out later in life may have been inspired by a partner, experimented, etc. Meaning there are lots of entry points to the fantastical world of diaper-wearing!

An interesting statistic there could have been, was whether people were incontinent/bedwetters, etc. before discovering their kink(s). Maybe another time for that one!

Finally, a quick take on the political elephant in the room: Instead of seeing those we disagree with, let's agree that it's quite fantastic how little politics play a factor on here. Like, we go on here to talk to people we have a lot in common with, and just like leaving the ego at the door when going to the gym- we leave issues such as politics when we enter here. I still find these statistics very interesting, but with all due respect, I don't find it a good look to bash anyone based on political direction - any more than I do for any other statistic. Remember, statistics are about discovering facts and analyzing, being impartial as an analyst is imperative.

I can't say the stats surprise me a whole lot otherwise. Finding a correlation is easy if one looks for it, so in reality the results could mean any number of things, but thank you for making and showcasing them! 🙂 Maybe I've even been inspired to make my own questionaire for a hypothesis I've been pondering!

Hey hey!

Not too much changed but the amount of responses did go up, so I will post once again.

I would like to preface this with the fact that I do recognize that I should have been more transparent with the fact that some of the things I was saying were biased and that it was a bad thing that I put that on the break down. Thats my bad 😅. That being said: Fuck fascists.

Not much to break down that hasn't been said yet by me or other community members, I would like to posit that instead of it being a trauma kink it may have to do with other environmental factors, the possibility of it being environmental rather than genetic seems a lot more probable (the way I see it). Thanks to everyone who has responded thus far and I cannot wait to see what other people have to say about the data.

This post is fascinating on a number of levels. I hope people continue to vote on it. I know I was super happy to see the trans intersection included! The political section is kind of scary just for how many people willingly chose fascist. That is... kind of insane. I would also say bunching up Liberals and Socialists is kind of weird. Liberals are pro capitalism and Socialists are anti-Capitalist so that one is a little weird but aside from that, the questions and responses are pretty well considered.

Highly intriguing poll

I'm about to finish my bachelors of social work with an intent to become a therapist. ABDL/Ageplayer is fairly unique among kinks due to how many do interact with it in an entirely asexual manner even if they themselves have sexual tendencies. I'll certainly be checking this thread every now and then to see new results <3

Well, “liberal” can mean almost anything you want it to, globally the name is used for both right-wing and left-wing parties! You can be socially liberal but economically more conservative, or vice versa.
