Peeing While Running

Recommended Posts

The natural urge is to stop when you have to pee. Also, as you run/exercise/engage in activity, you have to pee less than you would if you were not active. For me to do it intentionally, I have to keep my bladder topped off before I run/plan to have an accident while running (or now exercising).

I used to run when my knees could handle it (before RA). Other runners and I just peed or trickled when we ran. Most times it was little bursts as we raced or went cross country. Having tight bike shorts or pants helped disguise the embarrassing part when someone just had to let go.

Obviously, there were times when someone would cramp up or stop and bend over and "woosh" ... there was no hiding that.

I agree with @SoggyShorts and @strokeknight2, it takes practice and sometimes a lot of it to just let go. For me, it was getting over the hurdle that everyone does it and it happens.

I hope this helps!

I love wetting while running! IDK what exactly it is about it, but wetting while running or biking is my favorite way of wetting myself.

The most difficult part is getting it started. Once I do get it started, I usually can't empty my entire bladder. The movement of running tends to stop the peeing after you are about 1/3-1/2 empty. Here are a few tips of mine to get started:

- Plan ahead. You should be well hydrated and needing to pee before you start to run. If you start running just barely needing to pee, you won't need to pee at the end of a run since you will sweat out all the excess liquid. Since it is hard to pee while running, really needing to pee is almost a necessity.

- Stop holding your bladder about 3 minutes before you expect to actually wet yourself. This may take practice, since it is really easy to tense up your bladder while running.

- When you do decide to wet yourself, don't push too hard, that will just tense up your bladder while moving, just nudge it slightly.

- Try to start wetting yourself while running downhill. The longer strides makes it much easier to start wetting yourself. Alternatively you can also try to increase your strides when you want to start wetting yourself.

- Patrice by wetting yourself while walking.

- Slowing down to a light jog will make it easier to wet yourself

- If you are having troubles, and really want to wet yourself before you finish your run, you can do some moving stretches and start wetting yourself then. Lateral walking side lunges are my go-to. Just something that slows you down and doesn't cause any movements that would tense up the muscles around your bladder.

If you run for a long time, exhaustion is gonna make you stop spending energy on things deemed "not necessary for your body's function" that includes holding your pee 😛
I realized that the first time I went on a running competition, that day I wet myself while running veeeeery easily and smoothly, because i was really tired and having a muscle relax felt like heaven to my body, even tho i smelled like pee afterwards and it was embarassing xD

I love to wet myself while out on a run. My advice is similar to others here, get yourself nice and desperate before you leave and then have an extra 500ml or so of water. This is because your body sweats out/uses up a lot of water while running. Try to stay relaxed, slow down a bit to start wetting, focus on the bouncing of your full bladder as you run and how good it would feel to let some of that pressure go. Focus on your breathing and trying to relax your pelvic floor, once you let out the first leaks it should be easier to let out a dribble on purpose bc your pants/shorts will be wet. I've done this enough that I can often wet on instinct when I reach the end of my run and start walking to cool down.
