kakkuru 6
Is the intense urge to pee felt by people with overactive bladder(OAB) different from that felt by non-OAB people? One woman with OAB described her urge to pee as feeling like there was pee in her urethra and she had no way to hold it. Quote Link to comment
Stanley79 544
Unless I've been doing frequent holds, it usually feels like a normal urethral pee urge (sensation as though pee were in my penis). Then suddenly the sensation increases rapidly. It takes maybe 15 seconds from level 3 to level 8. If I can't drop whatever I'm doing, and try to wait, I can wait maybe 20 to 30 seconds. Then my bladder cramps (pain above my pubic bone). While cramping it pushes spurts past my urinary sphincter. If I've done multiple holds prior to an OAB episode, it the urge can increase from nothing to can-not-hold-back-spurts in 2 or 3 seconds. Because I have so little time to get to a restroom and have these anywhere from 2 or 3 per week to 2 or 3 per day, I wear pull-ups 24-7 and keep a Pee Pod Mat on my bed.
