yeah i'm not used to holding it but when i have to i can do it forever like it feels impossible for me to wet myself.

Story to back this up, a few years ago i was at a party and drank lots of alochol i did not pee for like 2 hours than we smoked some weed (it's very illegal where i live (just having weed in your bloodstream is a criminal offense) then me and one friend got busted by the police they thought i looked high which i was so they drove us to the station (we also made like a 30 min stop beacuse the police decided to stop a car even though me and my friend was in the back of the cop car) keep in mind i still haven't peed for like 3 hours now and i can feel that i have to piss bad, they take too that station and they want me to do a urine test (to see if i have thc in urine). me being the smartass that i am i know that you can detect drugs in urine much further back than in blood (7 days vs like a couple of hours) i had taken some other drugs a few days prior and did not want them to see that since police would tell my parents i had taken harder drugs. So i decided to just hold it, the police gave me like 5 cups of water which i finished but everytime they wanted me to try again i just pretended to try (they have to actually watch you so you don't cheat the test) basically i was in the station for another 2-3 hours meaning i hadn't peed for like 6 hours despite having drank a lot of alochol and a shit ton of water. it was super hard and i ocastionally worried i was gone break and leak but i knew i could trust my body and that didn't happen. eventually the cops agreed to do a bloodtest which also took a lot of time beacuse we had to be escorted to the hospital and wait for a doctor to get ready. after something like 8 hours i was finally free to go and i still waited for my mom too pick me up and drive me home before i peed.

after that experince i just don't think i can pee myself

That is a crazy story! Thanks for sharing, scary! You must be really really really good! I know some women are really really good too though from reading some of these posts. I think that in a pinch both men and women can reach a point where your bladder filling up more just doesnt make you more desperate. That's how we get to some of these absolutely insane bladder bulges that I have seen a couple of times while browsing. I would never try that myself I don't think, its painful and unhealthy, thats why I usually find it more fun to challenge myself into doing various activities to get me desperate faster. But if holding was a life or death situation and I just sat down and focused I think I could hold for a really long time as well, although probably not forever like 8 hours 🙂 .

Another Story:

I think the absolute longest I ever held my pee was this one time in first year of university. I was going to see my boyfriend for the weekend in a town about an hour and a half bus ride away. He was living in residents at a different university than me. I was totally in a rush to catch my bus after school ended at 5:30pm and I dont think I use the bathroom like I usually do after class. I wasn't well hydrated and I barely had to pee then so I didn't think much of it. I grabbed a sandwich and a large hot chocolate from the Tim Hortons just before getting on my bus at 6:30. I arrived around 8 and definitely had to pee then but still not badly. I think the lineup at the bus station looked a little intimidating and it was dark and late so I just wanted to keep moving (it wasn't a nice bus station, smaller town). It was a 40 minute walk to the university campus and I definitely was getting a bit desperate on the walk there, which I somewhat enjoyed actually. I was hoping my boyfriend might want to mess with me when I got there but I knew he probably wouldn't, he wasn't really into that unfortunately🙃.

Anyways the BIG problem was, when I got there at like 8:45 the girls at the front desk told me there were no guests allowed in the dorms overnight on the weekends, especially since he was on a boys only floor 🤦‍♀️. They said I would need to find another place to stay, which I didn't know how to respond to. I called him and he told me to tell them it was fine, which I was confused by but I followed his instructions. He then managed to slip me in one of the side automatic-locking doors and we ran right to his dorm. As soon as I got there I whispered "yay! I'm here so nice to see you.. Umm... where's the bathroom?" And he said "Oh its a community bathroom out in the hall. Umm... You probably shouldn't go out there" I could NOT believe it ahahah omg, what a guy! We played some card games on the floor for a while and then we decided to go to bed around 10:30, we were both tired from the week. I was totally wiggling and pressing myself against the floor the entire time we were playing games, and knew laying down would make it easier.

Long story short after a while of shifting around (I think I shoved some blankets tight between my legs as well cuz that apparently helps 🤷‍♀️) I got some short bursts of restless sleep. I eventually woke more up significantly around 5am and I had a massive bladder bulge (for my standards, which isnt that crazy but still) It was lifting my pajamas off of my waist as I lay on my back, very visible, and very uncomfortable I remember. I tried to show my boyfriend by he was sleepy and didn't understand what it was or what was going on. At this point I was so desperate and uncomfortable there was no way I was getting back to sleep. I got up (which made it worse XD), opened the door and started making my way down the dimly lit hall for a bathroom. I saw the male only one but I definitely didnt want to use it. Down by the building entrance (where I first got denied entry) I noticed through the glass in the door that there was no longer anyone guarding the main door. I opened the door to the lobby and finally saw a girls bathroom. Jesus it took some effort XD.

I peed for a really long time haha. I got pushed way beyond what I would consider fun and I wasn't even desperate walking down the hallway I was just in a sore pain. I held for about 18 hours, although for a lot of that I was not well hydrated. But ANYWAYS I think girls can hold it a long time too if they have to (at least some can and I also know some cannot 😛) and I am by no means even close to the best female holder here. If boys really do get sore more slowly then I have no doubt that they would on average be able to hold longer. Wow that took a lot longer to say than I thought it would, sorry for such a long story!

Thanks for all the participation everyone! this is my favorite thread and I'm leaning so much!

I'm sure this question has been asked before but I couldn't find it. This is something that I've wondered for a long time and I was wondering what everyone's thoughts and experiences were on it? Throu

@DesperateJill I definitely agree with these points, and based off evidence I am finally convinced that women are more likely to have an accident than men given exactly the same fluid in the blad

Since folks have been talking about trying to determine sex differences in bladder capacity/holding ability scientifically, it might be of interest for some to know that there is actually an empirical

Great story, great experience! Thank you for sharing it.

I love it if girls hold their wee for long periods of time.
Amazing and exciting for me that you asked your boyfriend for the bathroom, he did know that you would need to go, but he told you that you should not go outside.

That means that he told you to hold it until next morning, till you can get out!?

Did you no more talk about your need to wee all evening long, was it self evident that you had to go to sleep with your bladder very full?

So great that you did it and great, exciting and for me arousing, that your bladder was bulging out so much in the morning after holding it for 18 hours.

What do you think, why did your Boyfriend not react as you did show him your swollen belly and your bulging bladder?

Absolutely great performance!!

The hardest way that I could where I had a job where I originally wasn't able to get to the bathroom for six or seven hours at a time. By sitting down and just holding on I was able to hold on but that didn't make it any less desperate. I still had to go pretty soon even if I was able to hold it for a long time afterwards so I spent much of the day desperate.

"If boys really do get sore more slowly then I have no doubt that they would on average be able to hold longer. Wow that took a lot longer to say than I thought it would, sorry for such a long story!"

I think the irony is that men can hold on longer but don't have to, where for women we have to go sooner but have to hold longer. Once again the worst of both worlds!

@Alex62

"IMO females can hold longer as I’ve knowing more females who held longer than any males I know. I think that’s bc males have it easier to find a bathroom when they need to go while females may not and have to hold till they find one."

Exactly, that's why female desperation is more common and prolonged. We both have to go sooner and wait longer so we get desperate quickly but often have to hold on for a long time whereas men don't get desperate as quickly and when they do can usually get to a bathroom right away.

Tbh, this could be true but relies on the assumption that women in general are holding their bladders long enough and frequently enough to develop holding unusual holding abilities which, by definition, wouldn’t be the norm for the majority of women. And, it assumes that men do not do this (or at least do so to a lesser extent than women) and that these gendered experiences are common enough that women in can contain their full  bladders longer than men in general.

Yet, based on the data I’ve seen and simple anecdotal experience, I just don’t think this is the case. Like in your story, I’d be willing to bet that if you took a group of men and women and had them hold their piss under identical conditions, the men would generally be able to out-hold the women and hold larger volumes before relieving themselves.

However, a better way to put this to the test that hasn’t yet been discussed might be to measure how long each individual can last from their self-reported “first desire to void” or “strong desire to void” to the point of giving in and relieving their bladder. That might be a more fair way to assess holding ability.

I can say from personal experience you have a point about this. This makes me think of my job where I had to hold it for six or seven hours and it became very obvious to me that the majority of women did not have to develop gargantuan bladder strength just to get through the day, and as a person who did however I can honestly say that it is something that you really really notice!

But what I was getting at is that because women have to go to the bathroom sooner is that they tend to be desperate longer. If men can hold more in terms of length and volume that means that men aren't going to be as uncomfortable as long as women are in general.

Like again using my job as an example where I was holding it for six or seven hours, again an alien experience that is not the experience of the majority of women on a regular basis, but I think serves as an example to illustrate a point.
By our to I would definitely feel an urge to go and buy our three I would definitely be uncomfortably full but then I would hold it for another three or four hours after that. My male coworkers by contrast would just go pee in the bushes. Maybe they wouldn't have to go as soon as I did but then as soon as they did have to go they would be able to relieve themselves right away perhaps an even larger volumes but they were getting the relief.

So yes maybe they could hold longer than me but the fact is that they don't have to usually. If a person is stuck holding it is more often a woman because due to circumstances women often have to hold it much longer than men do even if men are more capable of holding longer. Men may be capable of holding longer but they are paradoxically the ones who usually don't have to.

So once again it's a worst of all worlds situation, where the women have to go sooner and feel it urgently sooner but have to wait longer for relief. The men would just hold up until the point where it becomes uncomfortable, immediately get relief and it will be done with, however the woman might not get that immediate relief and therefore has to continue holding. The result would be that the men were comfortable most of the day whereas the women were having a prolonged experience of urgent desperation during that same span of time.

Again maybe these aren't the usual circumstances, in fact they certainly aren't, except for the fact that when there is holding to be done it's usually the woman who gets stuck holding it not the man, which is why women might dominate at both ends of the bladder spectrum. The women who are forced to hold out of necessity get unusually large bladders whereas the women who are able to go frequently tend to have to go more frequently as a result.

I see what you’re saying. The questions that remain for me, then, are:

1) How do those women with unusually large bladders stack up against average men and women?

2) How do they compare to men whose bladders have been similarly conditioned?

"1) How do those women with unusually large bladders stack up against average men and women?"

Well compared to average man women I would say that their bladders are a lot better and can go a lot longer just overall. Although if you're asking how an average man stands up to a woman who has deliberately made her bladder much larger I feel like maybe women have more of an effort required in order to get up sufficient bladder strength to be on equal ground with an average guy.

"2) How do they compare to men whose bladders have been similarly conditioned?"

I suppose if you had a man who held often a woman who held up in that the man might still have an edge simply because of the different anatomical  advantage. The longer urethra, the ability to withstand greater bladder pressure and not having the bladder pressing up against the uterus and having its expansion space limited probably still gives guys an advantage.

Once again I have to admit that this is most likely true, because you really just don't see male desperation happening that often. I mean occasionally men will get desperate, but it's very rare that you see men urgently in need of a bathroom or really truly frantic in dire need, whereas it's fairly common to see that with women even women who can hold it a long time. So I suspect that if I was holding all day with a man who was also holding all day I would probably be more uncomfortable and he would have an easier time holding it.

Perhaps we should put that to the test ourselves sometime, maybe over in the "live action omo" thread.

We could each drink a certain amount and then record the times at which we feel certain sensations (first sensation, first urge to pee, etc.), the time at which we inevitably cave and empty our bladders, and the final volume we hold.

Might be hard to plan given that everybody is in different time zones and everything if you wanted everybody to do it simultaneously.

I'm with the theory that women are just more used to holding it than men. I was out chasing bald eagles for film/photography with a female friend who is also into film once. We met at my place at 7am and headed out to the a wilderness are where I'd found baldies before, and after exploring there for a while we followed the eagle route to another spot where I'd found them before. On the way to the 2nd spot we stopped at a coffee shop, and I got a coffee and she got a protein shake (which she guzzled down before we were even back on the road).

Shortly after we arrived at the 2nd spot I used the bushes at around noon. By around 12:45 she asked how long we were going to be there, because "I'm hungry and I have to pee really bad. But I can handle it."

While we were there though, we saw a short eared owl hunting for something in the grass, which is actually a fairly rare sight, so naturally I was shooting like crazy. We wandered around a bit and chatted for a while between sightings, and ended up not heading out until around 5pm, and got to the first gas station en route back around 5:15 or thereabouts.

I don't personally know any guys who'd have held out that long once they were that desperate!

I love this idea! Although for all the reasons mentioned that might screw up our study like variable body mass and prior hydration I would definitely be on bored for this!

Exactly because a guy in the situation you describe can just relieve himself easily whereas for women it's much more difficult and there is the social expectation for women to hold it if there is no bathroom available. So I've learned the hard way that if you're going to be a woman doing outdoor activities for an extended amount of time like that you basically have to learn to hold it and hold it and keep holding it, often to a very uncomfortable degree.

That may be true in some cases, but I'm sure there are also plenty of men who would prefer not to expose themselves even though they can be more discreet about it than women, or perhaps simply choose to wait for an available bathroom as a point of masculine pride.

In, for instance, an outdoor event where bathrooms are unavailable but there are too many prying eyes to relieve oneself discreetly, if everyone simply had to hold to their individual limits of discomfort, I have little doubt that it'd be the women who would generally have to cave and empty their bladders (voluntarily or otherwise) before the men, on average.

In my experience there is great variability from one person to the next. More of my girlfriends wet themselves at least once than have never wet themselves while with me. Some could hold for very long times, some could (or did) not. I suspect that a controlled study of large numbers of the general population would show great variability among both females and males. I also suspect that childbirth significantly reduces the ability to hold in women, and of course during pregnancy the ability to hold gets progressively reduced.

From the age of 18 to 40 I wet myself at least once a year, and usually several times a year, at least in part because, well I am a member of omo.org. Then when I had kids I became much more careful about wetting myself. I went to great lengths to not wet myself in any situation they would remember.

For several years I lived in densely populated areas and walked late at night. I never exposed myself; I just held until I couldn’t hold so my preference was to wet myself rather than pull it out; my thinking was that there was less risk of arrest due to wet pants than there was of arrest for public exposure. I was always headed home.

I was married for 32 years. My then wife did wet herself due to waiting too long (probably to get my attention) before she had our two kids. After she had kids, both C-sections, she had periods in which she wet herself frequently.

I suffered a spinal cord injury that abolished my ability to sense a full bladder and abolished my ability to completely empty my bladder. My kidneys were saved because if my bladder filled beyond certain volumes, at first around 600 cc then progressively greater to the current perhaps 1.5 liters, my bladder would expel roughly 1/3 to 1/2 of its contents. In the months before I took to wearing diapers I noticed that I would often first have a leak that caused a significant wet patch in my undies then a few minutes later a much larger leak that would cause a visible wet area (if I were sitting my butt would be wet) then a few minutes later another large leak. This pattern could go on for at least an hour until I drained my bladder with a catheter.

True I know that it's more common for men to be pee shy than women perhaps because they're being sounds louder. I understand the idea of holding it out of masculine pride though, wouldn't people rather be comfortable rather than admitting to having to go to the bathroom, I mean I don't think it seems like an especially embarrassing or humiliating thing just to admit that you have to use the bathroom. But then there are some women who have that attitude well who see holding it as a point of pride, but to me I never really understood that, I don't understand what is prideful about being uncomfortable necessarily.

"In, for instance, an outdoor event where bathrooms are unavailable but there are too many prying eyes to relieve oneself discreetly, if everyone simply had to hold to their individual limits of discomfort, I have little doubt that it'd be the women who would generally have to cave and empty their bladders (voluntarily or otherwise) before the men, on average."

This is probably true although I can't say I have ever seen an accident among men or women ever in my entire life except maybe that time when the van broke down at my job. I think that the average person if a bathroom is not available will continue holding it. But at outdoor event with men and women where there weren't bathrooms available the women did seem to be the ones who were more distressed about a lack of bathrooms. Again I didn't ever witness anybody popping a squat or wetting themselves, but it does seem like in these type of situations you're more likely to see the women complaining or looking uncomfortable or wanting to find a bathroom compared to men, who don't seem to mention the need as much.

In terms of reaching desperation, I don't know, I imagine it's fairly even.  However, I know at least in my case (male), it's basically impossible to lose control.  Like, if my bladder is literally at 101% capacity, then I will leak 1% and no more.  If it weren't for pain and how unhealthy it is, I could probably keep my bladder at "almost completely full" for a very long time (days), only peeing a little bit when adding any extra to my bladder would just overflow it a little.

I know you've held it a lot at work, but have you ever tested your limit to see how long you can hold out with a full bladder?

"I'm with the theory that women are just more used to holding it than men."

"I don't personally know any guys who'd have held out that long once they were that desperate!"

But it seems like girls have it worse because girls have smaller bladders and less opprotunties? It feels like life is harder for a female bladder. Do you feel jealous of men having double the advantage as it does seem pretty unfair if it is true that women have a harder time holding in pee too. IT does seem ike a "design flaw" for the female body in terms of peeing.
