Loved your story! Thank you for sharing! Sorry that it was a mortifying experience for you. Hope you still had a good day/trip.  It’s always my nightmare scenario to wet a hotel bed. Always so nervous when I travel or do vacation stuff without being100% prepared because just when I think I’ve had some dry nights in a row I’ll wet when I least meant to.

I'm no specialist, but I'd guess that, because you were too tired, your body decided not to wake you up to empty your bladder and rather just kept you asleep for a longer, much needed rest.

I second Sandy, if are worried it will happen again, maybe you could use protection just in case. After this event doesn't repeat itself you can be assured that this was a exceptional occurrence.

This happened to me too many years ago. I was not a regular bedwetter back than and only had occasional wetting accidents at night, maybe a few per year, but it had to happen right when I was on a business trip and stayed in a hotel. It was so embarrassing to call the receptionist in the middle of the night and tell her what happened. I was also afraid they will charge bed cleaning to a company credit card which I used for booking the room, but luckily they didn't. That would be really embarrassing conversation when I would have to explain what happened. I would probably lie and tell I spilled something on the bed. Admitting at work that I peed my bed would not be really an option.

I'm sorry to hear this happened to you and how it affected you. I recently had an accidental bedwetting a couple weeks ago, though thankfully it happened at home in my own bed. I have a mattress protector but it doesn't quite work 100%. I didn't sleep well for a couple nights before so I was really tired and I took a cannabis edible to sleep better. I emptied my bladder before bed though I was maybe a little too hydrated and I must have been too knocked out, so I woke up feeling the slightly cold wetness around me.

You mentioned you were really dehydrated, well that can actually cause urine to be really concentrated and can irritate your bladder, so its possible that could have been a factor. Its best to stay properly hydrated and probably stop drinking any liquids a couple hours before bed time.

I don't think housekeeping would be offended by it. I'm sure it happens more than you think, and of course accidents do happen. One product I would recommend is a PeaPod Mat, which is a waterproof and washable mat. They're pretty comfy and not noisy when you move around on them and can absorb quite a lot. If you were to have an accident on it while away from home, you could fold it up and put it in a garbage bag and bring it home to wash.

I second the PeaPod mat. Ever since I got mine, it's been a constant on my bed. Really nice to have some assurance that if I leak, the pee has somewhere to go besides my mattress protector.

Reviewing the points above.   (I'm an irregular bed flooder.  In September I'll need to tell a cousin I bed wet so she will know before we stay in a motel.)

1.  Hotel policy usually allows for some for food, beverage and bladder spills.  They don't want to lose future customers.

2.  Diapers:

A.  Before using a diaper in a hotel, make sure it can contain you entire capacity and will not leak with you in you normal sleeping position.

B.  Be sure you can sleep in the style you choose before depending on it during a trip.

C.  Pack odor-confining disposal bags.

3.  Cannabis can make some people sleep though bladder signals, can reduce inhibitions to releasing urine and in some people has a strong diuretic effect.  All that's good for age play.  Also, a cannabis and beer sleepover great game for who will wake dry and who not.  But for bed wetting.  .  .

4.  Dehydration does indeed make urine more irritating and sometimes hard to hold.

5.  Extra tired:  Almost always some controlling person can set up another to get extra tired.

6.  A Pee Pod Mat is my number one always use item for containing my unpredictable night floods.

Hey, I'm so sorry this happened to you. 😞 It sounds like it was quite scary and mortifying. You're quite brave for sharing. A lot of people struggle with incontinence, and I think it should be talked about more to normalize it and remove the shame and stigma. I hope that you find the right products, diapers or whatever, to help with your dilemma. ❤️
