nappypants 1,403
It's one of the few obvious scenarios where healthy, continent young people wear nappies out of necessity. There's a fair few interesting articles out there about astronauts and their absorbent underwear... https://www.space.com/astronauts-wear-diapers-on-spacewalks.html I love the observation that "going to the toilet" during a spacewalk is the ultimate "loo with a view" experience... obviously when said loo happens to be in your pants you have the advantage of being able to relieve yourself discreetly in any beauty spot, but I suppose you couldn't beat doing so while looking down on the Earth! https://www.businessinsider.com/how-astronauts-pee-poop-in-space-2016-7?r=US&IR=T Interesting video about halfway down this one, talking about the history of women urinating in space, and the female astronaut at the end talking about how difficult it was to relieve herself in a nappy in a lying down position! As most of us here will know, all it takes is practice, and NASA really should have training sessions back on Earth if they find it difficult 😉 Edited March 15, 2021 by nappypants (see edit history) RDFan2020 and rachelkirwan 1 1 Quote Link to comment
koopatroopa 76
Check out the anime "Planetes" there are quite a few references to characters wearing diapers in space (even the first 5 min) The synopsis is about future astronauts collecting space debris and problems related. Its pretty dope as far as scifi genres go. Edited March 16, 2021 by koopatroopa (see edit history) Quote Link to comment
jboarder64L 766
As a huge space nerd, I’ve always been super fascinated with this subject. I’ve stumbled on some interesting things over the years reading up on cool space stuff. I saw this picture once of what looks to be a huge stash of diapers and wipes on the middeck of the space shuttle. I read this response on quora too that was really interesting... https://www.quora.com/As-an-adult-have-you-ever-wet-yourself-on-purpose drillers, nappypants, Emma Bailey and 1 other 4 Quote Link to comment
nappypants 1,403
Interesting post, and it seems sensible for them to sleep in nappies if it’s such a trek to the toilet... though would perhaps generate too much waste if they all did it all the time! While non-space-related, also liked the one about medical students(?) trying out nappies from the point of view of elderly/incontinent people, and how difficult they found it to “use” them. Many aspiring DLs find it hard to overcome this potty-training reflex even when they want to. Even after many years I still get this moment of bladder hesitation when I wet, as if it’s saying to me “Do you really want to do this in your pants?” chorlax123 and jboarder64L 2 Quote Link to comment
