5 Favorite Stories From 5 Years of Lurking

Recommended Posts

Thanks so much for reading, and I thought you ought to know that the remastered edition of Desperation Dungeon has been out for years now:

And if you enjoyed Dungeon, I'd also like to suggest my other largest story if you haven't ever seen it, Lunambra:

It has a lot of the same themes as Dungeon, meaning focused on story and characters rather than being "just porn," but in a completely different setting.

I feel obligated to mention the great odyssey we mortals call Lillica Quest by our lord and savior @Rainyday

But yeah for real tho... It is probably my all time favourite story in this site xD

I don't think I've ever gotten around to Lilica Quest, but anything by Rainyday is a good time, so I'm downloading the disstilled version now.

Hello again, I thought I should update this thread shouting out the good reads I've found on this site with a few honorable mentions that I would've liked to add to the original list, but couldn't for varying reasons, be it to avoid over-representing one user on the list, a story being unfinished or ongoing, or just straight-up unavailability of the material.

That last one probably sounds the most intriguing, so I'll start off by addressing the story that absolutely would've ended up on the list if it was still on the site, that being Developmental Biology by @satyr. This perspective-flipping but down to earth exploration of an alternate world where girls aren't potty trained (at least for number 1) until their teens was one of the first things I found on this site that really captivated me, and alongside a few of the other stories listed here, is one of the biggest reasons why I made an account here (something I haven't done for any other sexually-explicit sites.) I honestly think it's a real shame that this story just completely disappeared off the site after satyr's account was deactivated, since everything else he did is at least viewable.

To make up for that, I'll link Satyr's personal story index here, as it originally linked to Developmental Biology, and features a bunch of Satyr's one-off stories that could clog up these honorable mentions otherwise (I'd personally recommend Wayward Girl, An Innocent Auto-Complete Suggestion, and Roses.)

Regardless, now we can talk about the honorable mentions that actually are still on the site, starting with @WriterForce6XV's Love Love omutsu fics, Leaking Love and The Price of Freedom:

Both of these stories about the school idols of the Love Live anime series having to return to using diapers for their bladder problems are honestly just great pieces of character-writing in my opinion, managing to really make me feel like I'm inside the main characters' heads in a similar way to Weekend at the Grandparents. However, I think it's an even bigger accomplishment here because these are less grounded anime characters from a show I haven't even seen, but they felt very genuine and believable nonetheless.

Personally, I prefer Leaking Love to The Price of Freedom, most likely because the setup of Umi realizing she may be dealing with this anxiety-induced incontinence that she's never fully overcame for the rest of her life is one with a lot of genuinely interesting psychological ground to cover, and even a little relatable as a very shy and anxious person myself (thankfully not an incontinent one, though, haha.) However, you can't go wrong with either, as both Umi and Maki trying to maintain their dignity as they're forced into such a humiliating situation make for interesting leads, and they both have some great romantic tension with one of their fellow school idols.

But for as much as I like these stories, well, I can't put either of them as one of my top 5 favorites when both have been left hanging after a few chapters in favor of other projects WriterForce has been busy with, which I've unfortunately been unable to get into for reasons unrelated to his (really good) writing style. (And by that I mean either fetishes or source material that I'm just not very fond of.)

Another new author to enter into this Esteemed Pantheon is the central admin of the site, @Kyuu, with their ongoing series Wanwan to Kurasu - A Wanko to Kurasou inspired series:

This ongoing series of short stories takes place in the universe of the eroge visual novel Wanko to Kurasou, and while I haven't played that VN, Kyuu makes its world and characters very appealing in this comfy series about a young woman and the dog-girls who come to live with her.

Speaking of the dog girls, they don't just act like normal girls in the Wanko to Kurasou universe; they're sapient like humans, but more instinct-driven, less adept at verbal communication, and generally not as aware of human customs. While Kyuu didn't come up with this unconventional characterization, they did a good job adapting it into their fics; it's very unabashedly anime, but believable and interesting nonetheless. It helps that Risa, the viewpoint character, is a normal(ish) young woman (and one in a pretty easy-to-relate to stage of life and financial situation) who can kind of be our anchor for the series.

I also have to give props to Kyuu for 2 other things:

1. From what I've seen of the VN, the writing style and omo focus are both fairly natural extensions from the original.

2. About a quarter of the series so far has had pretty prominent messing, which is usually a deterrent for me, but I didn't mind it too much here.

Now, we've already double-dipped a bit on this list with Satyr, but another user I thought should shout-out another story from was @MasterXploder with P-Support Achieved (Fire Emblem Fates):

This is another 3-Part fic from MasterXploder, and once again I find it really easy to get into his comfy, lighthearted, and anime-esque writing style, and that style suits this length of story very well.

Regardless, this short yuri story follows the two petite princesses from FE Fates growing closer over their mutual struggles of fitting bathroom breaks into a royal lifestyle, which may sound like a silly thing to bond over, but fits the characters very well. The friendship between these two is really sweet from the start, and it only gets sweeter as it becomes something of a budding romance later on. And what can I say, I'm a sucker for yuri in general, but comfy and fluffy yuri is especially great.

It was kinda hard for me to choose between this one and The Pressure to Pamper,  which showed up earlier in this thread, for the spot on the list proper, and I chose that one simply because I've returned to it more times and find it more, shall we say, intellectually-stimulating (emphasis on the intellectual, of course ;;)

Alright, this post is currently even more long and rambly than the first, so I'll wrap this whole thread up quickly with a few more shout-outs:

Two fiction threads I'm currently following are Red Flag, Yellow Streams by @Ms. Tito, which I appreciate for how unabashedly queer, horny, and utopian it is and Promises Are Made To Be Broken by @laposit19, which I've been enjoying for its detailed writing style, believable characters, and down-to-earth tone, (although I have kinda fallen behind on it recently.)

Two threads I was really enjoying but are seemingly in limbo now are Angelica and Lily by AplhaCentauri, who's seemingly been demoted to a guest account, and Butterfly by Satyr, who you've heard me talk about enough. Both stories feature very believable lead characters with very believable close friendships who become very involved with omo and start to have their control eroded away in spite of leading mostly-normal lives up to that point, however, it's unclear if either will continue.

And finally, since I've given so much attention to MasterXploder, it's only fair to shout-out @Captain L as well, whose fanfic blogs for the Konosuba and Dragon Maid anime series I personally find to be lots of fun and very easy to return to (especially the Konosuba blog, something about that series just fits omo too well, lol.)

And with that, I should be done with this celebratory thread; I might come back to update and rearrange this list at some point, or maybe I'll end up spinning it off into celebrating other aspects of this community. Thanks to @Viridis's recommendation, I read all of @Rainyday's Lilica Quest about a week ago, and it was good enough that it got me wondering if I should do a thread like this for comics/doujins posted by site users.

I mean, @Jailor Eckman and @Phentaieeboth have on-going series that I'd be happy to put on a hypothetical list like that, so there's certainly potential there. :thonk:

I’d definitely be interested in that, because other than Off-Limits by Jailor and Fill-Me by me and Bombality, I don’t actually know of any other active comics/doujins, so I would like to see some recommendations in a list like that!

Comics/doujins on the list wouldn't have to be ongoing; the list would probably just include anything that doesn't feel like it was left hanging. The aforementioned Lilica Quest, for example, is technically only one volume long in the pdf, and kinda sets up a second one, but I still found it to be a satisfying read because of how much was packed into that one volume.

In terms of ongoing comics/doujins, though, there are a two more I can think of: Biku will most likely put out more issues of Hold It: Omo Idol, (which I actually haven't read yet because it's not free, but that I'd have to give a shot before doing a list like that) and Sketch-Man is still working on Diaper Quest: Next. Rainyday is kind of a wildcard in this regard as well.

Thanks for the praise. I honestly feel like my Love Live stories were trash... but I'm glad others enjoyed them, at least. xD

I can understand why; it's hard to believe from an outside perspective, but you wrote those fics over 4 years ago, so it makes sense you wouldn't be totally satisfied with them, especially when you said a while back that the writing process for Leaking Love was really stressful.

Although, if you dislike them that much now, maybe that'd make for a good reason to reboot that universe like you suggested awhile back :P

Hey, thanks again for the mention! I should point out that parts 2 and 3 of that story were commissioned by one @Night Rain, who also suggested the more yuri aspects in general. I loved writing about those two, and getting paid to do it made it all the sweeter. :reimuwink:

It was fun working on that series and building a type of friendship/relationship. Between the girls and wouldn't working on it again in the future if it ever came to that.

I am absolutely flattered by how much you love my story! It makes me happy knowing that things I create can make people happy.

You're open to post your own favs here, or just quote this thread in a new thread; whichever you prefer.

Is this just supposed to be AZDW's thread or is it an open invitation to list our top 5's?

(Also seeing someone type out my username like this makes me think I should get something a little more loose and catchy, lol.)
