Really nice work ! Blender is probably the way to go for photorealism, I just took the easy way and used Daz3D since it has lots of pre-made assets and is very much plug-and-play posing without the modeling, but man, Blender just looks so damn good !

If you ever want to boast how you did these wet patches, I'd be very much interested in hearing your Blender adventures.
