MisakaBestGirl 57
Would it be possible for someone to host version 4.1 or 4.2 on a website so it’s playable online, like on http://onlinemel.angelfire.com/? I have the offline versions but I can’t run them online unless I’m using my PC and I’m not used to doing it while sat at my desk, plus I’m majorly at risk on being walked in on. I’d be so grateful if someone could host it online as then I could play it in bed. Or tell me how, I’d be happy with that too. Quote Link to post

Also I won't promise that I'll keep this up like this. The next version will be online only because reasons, so I might turn that into a testing ground once I finally finished porting stuff over. Sorry for no updates btw I've just been busy and focusing on writing over programming in the free time I do have. OmoL 1 Quote Link to post

Thank you, it works quite well aside from some weird ascii formatting. ^_^ it’s interesting that the next version will be online only; what are the reasons? Why won’t it work offline? I’m okay with it being online though as it’s more convenient for me. Quote Link to post

Why won’t it work offline? I’m okay with it being online though as it’s more convenient for me. Among other things I'm basically exporting all quotes in separate JSON files (data storage format) for clarity sake. This also would make it easier to port the application to a desktop application and all that. For security reasons web browsers don't really allow you to request those files from a local hard drive(your computer) to prevent malicious codes running on your computer. Webpages are normally online only, it's using website code after all so offline support is a bit finicky. I actually ran into that problem earlier, but ended up working around it. But I decided to not put the effort into that and just put it on a webhost and hope for the best. I might recreate an offline version once the web version properly works. Also if it doesn't work at all I can translate things back to offline, it's actually not too much work to make a support for that since JSON files are formatted in a similar way to JavaScript objects, but I'm hoping this won't be necessary. i have to say if I ever properly work on mobile support the ascii art/img support is probably going to go for the simple reason of there's no space for it. Chosen One 27
Curious thing to note about mobile. The physical download you put up does indeed not work on mobile devices, however, the one you put up online works just fine, animated ascii and all. Quote Link to post

Yeah, I could've told you the physical download wouldn't work. don't think websites like that are supported. Quickly checked it does work on my phone also, though I'm notice that the font size is jumping. Is anyone else noticing that as well? Probably won't look into that anytime soon but it might be a good idea to note that. Quote Link to post

Yeah I am, I've just been really busy overall and it's a bit boring work atm so I might also have been putting it off a bit in favor of other things. I got some of it done, but it's also quite a lot that needs to be done before I can post anything again. The current version I have is very broken Simcaste and Glocky 2 Quote Link to post
souvikd70 11
I really love what you've done so far and hope you continue to post updates. I'd also happily donate money to the project if you add in some really cool stuff like pictures showing different stages of desperation. Quote Link to post

That is basically already a thing? atm the ascii animation standard in the game already shows the different stages of desperation. But users can add custom pictures to do that as well, those pictures can be gifs so they can be animated. iirc there's a detailed explanation on how to do that in the offline version somewhere in the previous posts but I have reworked that in the next version. The reason we don't natively have those pictures is because copyright. Could probably add something gifs natively but I think someone is going to have to custom animate it and it's not going to be me, because well I'm not an animator and I can't draw to save my life.
