This post became quite long, if you just want to know about the changes and stuff you can skip pretty much everything that is not bold or quoted So I recently came across the old Melissa Explains

As mentioned before I have still been working on this, so here is the next update There is still a lot of things that can be changed. Also I still need to properly figure out the scenes with th

Once again skip ahead if you don't want to know the details Aight, here it is, the next update. I'm afraid it isn't really much, despite me actually putting a lot of work into it.  Thing is I mai

Would it be possible for someone to host version 4.1 or 4.2 on a website so it’s playable online, like on http://onlinemel.angelfire.com/? I have the offline versions but I can’t run them online unless I’m using my PC and I’m not used to doing it while sat at my desk, plus I’m majorly at risk on being walked in on. I’d be so grateful if someone could host it online as then I could play it in bed. Or tell me how, I’d be happy with that too.

I put  4.2 on here, not sure how well it will work and all. Also I'd like to point out that atm only computer is tested. Also I won't promise that I'll keep this up like this. The next version will be online only because reasons, so I might turn that into a testing ground once I finally finished porting stuff over.

Sorry for no updates btw I've just been busy and focusing on writing over programming in the free time I do have.

Thank you, it works quite well aside from some weird ascii formatting. ^_^ it’s interesting that the next version will be online only; what are the reasons? Why won’t it work offline? I’m okay with it being online though as it’s more convenient for me.

Among other things I'm basically exporting all quotes in separate JSON files (data storage format) for clarity sake. This also would make it easier to port the application to a desktop application and all that. For security reasons web browsers don't really allow you to request those files from a local hard drive(your computer) to prevent malicious codes running on your computer. Webpages are normally online only, it's using website code after all so offline support is a bit finicky. I actually ran into that problem earlier, but ended up working around it. But I decided to not put the effort into that and just put it on a webhost and hope for the best.

I might recreate an offline version once the web version properly works. Also if it doesn't work at all I can translate things back to offline, it's actually not too much work to make a support for that since JSON files are formatted in a similar way to JavaScript objects, but I'm hoping this won't be necessary.

i have to say if I ever properly work on mobile support the ascii art/img support is probably going to go  for the simple reason of there's no space for it.

Curious thing to note about mobile. The physical download you put up does indeed not work on mobile devices, however, the one you put up online works just fine, animated ascii and all.

Yeah, I could've told you the physical download wouldn't work. don't think websites like that are supported. Quickly checked it does work on my phone also, though I'm notice that the font size is jumping. Is anyone else noticing that as well? Probably won't look into that anytime soon but it might be a good idea to note that.

Are you still working on this?

Yeah I am, I've just been really busy overall and it's a bit boring work atm so I might also have been putting it off a bit in favor of other things. I got some of it done, but it's also quite a lot that needs to be done before I can post anything again. The current version I have is very broken

I really love what you've done so far and hope you continue to post updates. I'd also happily donate money to the project if you add in some really cool stuff like pictures showing different stages of desperation.

That is basically already a thing? atm the ascii animation standard in the game already shows the different stages of desperation. But users can add custom pictures to do that as well, those pictures can be gifs so they can be animated. iirc there's a detailed explanation on how to do that in the offline version somewhere in the previous posts but I have reworked that in the next version. The reason we don't natively have those pictures is because copyright.

Could probably add something gifs natively but I think someone is going to have to custom animate it and it's not going to be  me, because well I'm not an animator and I can't draw to save my life.

Is everyone aware of the Date with Diane game? It's the spiritual successor to this and is really really amazing. I couldn't get it to upload here although I swear I've seen it on this site before.

Where did this one come from? I can't find a single reference to this anywhere 😕 It's certainly very cool, but nearly impossible to beat

@ForgetAboutMe Thanks for the really cool work! Looks like a big improvement!

I thought a lil bit about the how to make this even better:

  1. As we have a "lot" (at least way more than one 😉 developer in this forum and more than one who wants to work on this - wouldn't it make sense to split parts of the code and give everyone who wants one specific part to work on and put it all together in the end, fix eventual codeproblems and have a bigger, better version were everyone has made a contribution? Like for example you develop the drinking game more forward (i like the idea with the glass where she can pee in 😉 but at the same time someone else can work on the theater or something. To coordinate a simple google docs should do the trick or am i missing something here? (please correct me if i'm wrong) I'm thinking at for example @Zuorsara, @Pastafari, @JTeam_ maybe?, @JohnnyDT?, @deletedxyz, @kyrieelleison14, @MrMakeherWait, @inkpawed, @AuthorFaust, @Subaru  - to name just the few i found in a few minutes with the search-function of this forum. (Of course not everyone has always time, there are differences in the coding-languages etc. - but i still think collectively can emerge something very cool)
  2. About the pictures: I think we don't need to get too fancy in the first place, good, copyright free starting points are for example unsplash.com or pexels.com
    1. This could be used for example: https://unsplash.com/photos/vNfUDiPW6VE
    2. Or this: https://unsplash.com/photos/C_WBqsvgwv0

I guess just for safety and moral reasons i would only use pictures where you can't see the faces but this is up for the community to decide i guess.

3. We can maybe even include the expansions, the cheat-version etc. in this one update? So we just have one version that fits it all? I think a lot of people would like that.

4. And everyone else can suggest new story-parts @Cherylicious(?), test the versions for bugs etc. I think this can be one of the greater community-projects, now that it gained momentum again, what do you all think?

I'm flattered to have been mentioned XD I'm certainly willing to be a part of the project if there's a place for me, but that being said, I'm sure there are many others who would do a better job than me. Still, though, I'm here if anyone wants me (though I'm not particularly active here; it's a pure fluke that I logged in for the first time in a few months just a couple hours after this was posted XD)

@JohnnyDT thanks for the quick response!

The thing here is not about who is the best coder but more how the progress on the project compounds:

Imagine it like a house where everyone just brings in a single brick. Nobody cares how the brick looks, what is important that we get a house of it in the end.

Plus the earlier the responses, the more options to choose a part to build on i guess ( @ForgetAboutMe is the chief programmer here i guess so it is not for me to decide but i think properly coordinated this should work like a charm)

Is there any part that you would like to work on in the first place? And if so, what do you wanna change?

I just stumbled on this after being mostly off the forums for a couple years. I have't tried anything yet, but its great you fixed it up!

I actually did the same thing about 2-3 years ago, started with looking how to beat the game, then did some bug fixes and expanded some scenes. Instead of polishing it up and posting it, though, I went down a rabbit hole with one of the scenes that was never finished (can't remember which at this point). One thing lead to another and I ended up with what amounted to a brand new game and only carried over the core game engine (if you want to call it that). Mine ended up as a CYOA style game, though, so very different.

As is normal for me, I moved on to another project before I ever finished it, but I actually just picked it back up last week. If I ever get it playable I'll start up a thread on it.

Hi @cwpee and thanks for your input!

This sounds good! Can you please just post the code here as it is? (or on github or similar places) I think the problems will get fixed by the people who want to try it :D (That is the fancy power of communitys :)

And besides that: I think if every coder can just CODE ONE LINE PER DAY + working on very very tiny milestones like just implement one new scene i think we should get very far.

The community to motivate, test, feedback and thank you all is there so is this something that sounds appealing?

Thanks again for all the great work, looking forward to test the next versions!

Thanks for the interest! I don't want to distract from what you are doing here, but once I get a little farther along I will give it its own thread.

I did see the discussion about images. For starters, and this is likely covered in this thread somewhere, but I don't even see how to upload the photos to work in the game.

That said, I did have ideas about what to use. Apart from the obvious stuff, there are a number of porn sites where we don't have to feel bad about looking at someone who may not have wanted their pictures used for something like this. There's several sites out there that look like they compile free images from larger photo shoots. Here's an example: https://www.pornpics.com/?q=pee+pants There's plenty of others, but I like that it has several from the same set for continuity purposes.

Never mind, I found the directions for the pictures. Now I'm going to work on making GIFs from all of my wife's videos (personal use only, sorry!)

I haven't gone through all of the variations on 4.2, but I did notice that you chose to stick very close to the original game in a lot of ways. For example, one of the first things I did was allow you to finish having sex on the beach if your attraction was high and her shyness was 0, as I considered that bordering on a bug from the original. If you can get her to skinny-dip in someone's backyard, sex on a dark beach shouldn't be much different, IMO. I should be able to isolate out my code for that part if you are interested.

Sounds good! And thanks for the tipp with the pics, makes sense and should work out!

I like the idea with the isolated parts - this should make it way easier to put everything together and multiply the options at the same time. So that you have 4 options instead of 2 in a given situation. I think this could expand the whole game completely in unforeseen ways 😄

I'm just waiting for the "programmer in charge, @ForgetAboutMe" to say something about it, i think then we can start (however he has time, interest etc. of course.)

@Cthulu Unfortunately I don't really do that much coding anymore, so I am pretty rusty at it, but I am more than willing to help test it out in my free time.

@Subaru You could be our bug-hunter then? If you can code and test this should be the perfect role, right? Thanks for your time!

It's not as simple though. You are either concentrated on the project or you are not. If you are taking breaks from it, it then takes you time to even recall what you were doing last time. Besides, this certainly needs a coordinator to keep the big picture in their head.

That said, I'm a bit skeptical towards the idea of a "development team" for an omoge. All great games we have today are mostly a product of one-man team - likely because this way you can implement your particular fetishes and go-tos without having to consider other opinions.

I think we do. Visualization is paramount to a great omoge, and is especially important in case the game itself is text-based. What we need to do is get the list of pictures needed for each girl (stages, wetting etc.) and then commission a great artist like @Biku to do it for this project. Would be epic.

Aight okay, reading this all over right now. Normally I login every day to check my notifications but of course just as I'm not doing it for a few days this happens. I'm not complaining, that is how life works. Right now I'm very busy with a project from my university, so sorry for not responding to this earlier in any way. The deadline for that is this Friday and then my summer holiday starts so I'll be more able to look this over and plan and properly go over everything that has been said. I'm sorry I can't do this right now, but I feel like I need to say something.

I am absolutely not against the idea of setting up a team, just have to figure out how to coordinate this. I actually looked into putting the code on something like GitHub but I haven't really been able to find anything encouraging about hosting 18+ content there. I ended up making a private GitLab on an old computer to keep track of commits and To-Dos and stuff and to have a backup in case something happens to my laptop etc. I haven't properly worked on the code in months because of my schedule but have been looking on finishing the next version this summer.

As I mentioned before, I started a huge refactoring of the game engine, but am still figuring out how things should look in the end (I'll admit the code is not pretty). I think it's perfectly possible to split up some work with people interested. I'll come back with a more proper response in a few days addressing what everyone has been saying and maybe about how we could go about this or something idk.

Suggestions of course are always welcome.
