No public bathroom

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone!

Over the last week, I have noticed two different small stores/cafes in my local area that have a little sign on the front door. It reads "no public bathroom"

Each time I drive past or go into these places I grin and chuckle lightly at the thought of someone walking in, 9/10 desperate and asking to use the toilet, squirming in place as they try not to soak themselves with their own pee..

Anyone else ever thought about this or even experienced it?

In my experience, they rarely let you use a staff bathroom. They don't care if you wet your pants right there because of that. Since I'm often genuinely in dire need for a pee, I had to ask to use staff bathroom many times in the past and even I was visibly desperate, in most cases they said no. Once I even came in and already had a small wet patch on my pants and still didn't let me use it. Usually they just tell you where is the nearest place with a public bathroom. If you can make it there or not, is not their concern.

Quite often in smaller shops, the staff toilet is reached via a storeroom or workroom where there are things of value lying about, and they don't want strangers having access to them.  Or perhaps the toilet is in dire need of cleaning or has illicit or pornographic material, and they don't want others to see that!  If it's a shop that you frequent, they're likely to be much more sympathetic.

There's a Starbucks near my office that removed it's public restroom when it was remodeled - it's in a busy commercial area with very few public toilets so they had a steady stream (no pun intended) of desperate people coming in to use the restroom. I went there for lunch shortly after they closed the bathroom and about a dozen people - mostly women  - came in to use the bathroom and were bitterly disappointed. One woman even cried out "BUT I GOTTA PEE SO BAD!" when she found out they no longer had a bathroom for customers.

I see a lot of places round where I live that either don't have public bathrooms or have signs saying that toilets are for customers only and I often wonder about people in desperate need seeing those signs, knowing there are toilets but only for customers of the store/cafe and having to move on.

One of the things I have found which is a goldmine for sightings like this is my local McDonald's on a weekend evening. After a certain time the restaurant closes its upstairs area where the toilets are located and block off the disabled toilet downstairs and have security stopping people using the toilets. The security will allow some people in, for example people with actual disabilities but they don't let people in who have been drinking and who are just coming in to use the bathroom. This had led to many sightings of desperate individuals on a Friday/Saturday evening in the early hours of the morning. One of the advantages of working the evening shift.

I own/run a small independent shop, and due to the layout of the building its simply feasible to have a publicly accessible bathroom.

We do of course have a staff facility, but it's buried deep in the bowels (sorry! 😉) of the building, and to get to it cuetets would need to pass through an area with ewuiemt making it unsafe, as well as our storage and office areas. We wouldn't be insured either against them becoming injured, or the potential of anyhring being stolen, if we did allow access

Now, not a dick, and if somebody is clearly in a jam I'd much rather make an exception to this rule and take a chance than leave them humiliated and us with a mess to clean up, but typically most people are accepting when we say we don't have facilities. Maybe only a handful of times in the past couple of years have we had to bend the rules, and it's usually when a parent is worried that their kid is going to have an accident, which we wouldn't want to happen.

I'm wracking my brains to think of a scenario where we've had an adult woman desperate and asking to use our facilities, but don't think it's actually happened yet. The few that have asked and we've said no it's for staff only have accepted this without quibble, and with no obvious signs of really needing to go. The only ones that have been desperate have been young kids, and we've always made an exception for them because a wet and weeping child isn't good for anybody.

One of our delivery drivers who comes from the other end of the country often helps himself to the loo when he's dropping off our order, and will comment that he's not had the chance to 'go' since early that morning, but even for those into male Omo I'm afraid there's never even been the slightest sign of desperation, so he's clearly got a bladder of steel!

Won't lie, I always kind of hope that we will get to see some desperation or even an accident one day, although I'm not sure I've got the heart to actually turn somebody away who's in such a predicament, just as I'd hope that if I was ever close to disaster somebody else would take pity on me.

I remember going into a large cafe/coffee shop in Berlin because I was dying for a pee but out of politeness I bought a coffee first. After sitting down and finishing my coffee I discovered there were no customer toilets and I had to walk very quickly to the closest McDonald's to pee!

Back when I worked in a garden centre I was lucky enough to have a desperate looking woman rush up to me asking frantically where the toilets are. This happened quite a few times actually but as we had toilets for customers I would always show them where to find them.

I've also worked in several smaller stores where we did not have customer toilets and although I remember a few people asking if we had toilets, none looked particularly desperate. It's actually very common in the UK for smaller stores not to have any toilets for public use, even public buildings like libraries often don't have any customer toilets. My local library certainly doesn't and its not like there's any public toilets nearby either. I remember reading a message on another forum written by a postman working for Royal Mail who did not have any public toilets on his route so often ended up bursting to go by the end. He said that he'd once been so desperate that he'd gone into a library to ask to use their toilet and had been told quite sternly by the female librarian 'this is not a public lavatory!' and had no choice but to hold his pee in until he'd finished his route.

I'd obviously let a child use the toilet, but if it was a sexy adult woman I'd definitely tell her to hold it and hope she couldn't! Of course such scenarios don't happen too often, but I think my next story will concern such a scenario...

I run a small building supply shop. Our only bathroom is connected to my office, and for that reason have a policy of not letting people use the bathroom. My customer base is almost entirely male and I’ve had a number of guys come in asking to use the bathroom, clearly with a bladder filled to the brim. I’ve even had one Or two over the years sneak out behind the building and piss against the dumpster, unable to hold it any further.

I agree, though maybe not so much about the porn.  In some rural shops, their septic system or water supply may be adequate for only occasional use -  I know of such a store near my house.  Most shops will make an exception for a regular customer.

I cannot be critical if a store says they have no public toilet, but I am critical of municipalities that do not provide public facilities somewhere in town.  If a private storeowner (like WalMart) wants to accept that responsibility that's fine, but there should be some toilet available somewhere.

not me. I too chuckle at "no public restroom: signs.
but if i was at that 9.9/10 situation, i would already be making a beeline for an alley or unlit place so i could just soak myself. forget the toilet!

A similar theme - I was waiting for my train to work yesterday, chatting to the station staff, who was telling me all about his morning dealing with the aftermath of the waiting room being broken into and smashed up, meaning that it had to be locked up until it could be sorted as it wasn't safe. The ladies' toilets, unfortunately for them, are accessed through the waiting room. As I was talking to him, a girl approached him and asked whether there were any other toilets, saying that she'd had a bit of a bus journey to get to the station so could really do with it! I'm sure I spotted a little bit of a wiggle as she splen. Happily for her, he said that she could use the staff toilet and went off to unlock it - there's a door straight off the platform so no great drama with accessing non-public areas, otherwise it might have been a different outcome in the current security climate...

I've been with a number of women who were desperate to pee and we talked into places with a no restroom sign (for the public) and whomever was working there was unwilling to let the woman I was with use it. Two delightful recollections.

1-With we'll call her Dorie, in a beach town, she wearing a shortish white loose dress (which I loved because it was a bit see through so her panties shown a bit). It was in a small mall, and we left the small clothes store as Dorie was struggling to not wet her panties, jumping about and finally in public holding herself, although there were few people around.  We left, well she almost now running, and outside there was a small bush. She went behind it, holding herself as she went. It was not really hidden from the street, and she just let go, her legs spread wide, soaking her panties, holding her dress up but not quite exposing her panties as she peed a floor. After she finished she walked back to the sidewalk where I was standing, a large wet spot on the front her of dress where she leaked a lot as she held herself. A huge turn on for me (which she liked very much).

2-Not so much a no restroom sign but a paid restroom which took quarters (in the U.S.,this was a while ago).  I was sitting in the car while Eleanor (tall, blond, tight blue shorts) came running back (again holding herself) asking if I  had change. I found two quarters, finally....hehe...and she ran back. I had a perfect view of her fine butt, as she put the first one in but too late as she flooded her shorts in front of the toilet door. No one was around, but she came back to the car soaked. We found something for her to sit on, and as we left I drove for quite a while one hand between her legs feeling her wetness.....

🙂
