Barely made it at Kings Island

Cheers for Libby!  How'd she feel about amusement parks after that?

My area differs considerably.  Most amusement parks run to small and very small.  The smallest travel from suburb to suburb and stay in each maybe one week.  Presumably, come autumn they do the county-fair circuit.  The permanent ones reside in tourist towns and open for the summe months.  Perhaps the quick access to rides gives them and edge to the largish parks.  Anyway I love them.

One summer my girlfriend and I rolled into Long Beach, Washington.  My first surprise was completing the four-hour drive from Seattle still in dry pants.  (We take our time watching scenery.)  Second surprise: seemingly every fourth person between 12 and 26 sported an obviously wet butt.  No one looked embarrassed!  New style?  Plus Long Beach had gained a mini amusement park.  After nearly an hour checking into our cabin and unloading the car, i walked back to the amusement park.

The situation sort of reversed yours.  Nearly half the park visitors had wet butts.  Then I saw something disappointing.  Instead of bumper cars the park had bumper boats.  Each collision threw a wave over the drivers.  While not much of a wave, it settled into the boat seats.  The line for the ride gave the impression everyone wanted a wet butt.  Even though well past typical bumper age, I payed my money and got my wet butt.
