Tumblr stock

Yeah, you'll need to provide some more evidence.

Everyone wants to speculate this or that has caused a companies stocks to "plummet" in response to one thing or another, when the stock drops can easily just be attributed to corrections or a decline that has been happening for a long time.

A stock dropping up to ~3-5% or so is normal and doesn't mean anything.

I don't really see any correlation to Altaba's stock price dropping and Tumblr specifically. I doubt Tumblr is a big enough revenue stream that these changes will have a huge impact on the companies stock to begin with.

It's definitely hard to tell where the current economic train wreck ends and any social backlash related to the Tumblr NSFW ban begins. Which in turn makes it very hard to tell if the backlash is having any impact whatsoever.

Still, places like FurAffinity and Pornhub are probably already profiting from Tumblr's incompetence, either socially or financially. Also a lot of SFW content creators that got incorrectly flagged seem to be migrating to other platforms, and taking their followers and fans with them. The loss of all those users (and corresponding loss of ad revenue) due to mismanagement isn't factored into most discussions I've seen about the impact of banning adult content. Probably because it's so hard to quantify right now.

Ad provides don't want to be listed next to adult content, and that's one of the major reasons Tumblr seems to have gone through with this change.

It's unfortunate, but a reality. Some major players like Twitter and so on manage to get away with it; probably since adult content is still a minority on their platform (unlike with Tumblr). Sites that operate predominantly on adult content, however, will struggle to maintain ad funding.

Aside from ad revenue, Tumblr didn't really have any way to monetize their platform. So, it seems like they had no choice. Other platforms that take advantage of Tumblr's downfall might be able to succeed where they failed in the regard. Or most will probably likely fail also. Who knows.
