rachelkirwan 13,626 Posted January 18, 2018 🌟 OmoOrg VIP Popular Post Share Posted January 18, 2018 So as many of you will know by now, I’ve been experimenting a lot with different pads this past month. I’ve leaked into period pads, squirted into light incontinence pads, accidently soaked panties, and developed a new appreciation for Poise products in this time. If you are interested in my other pad reviews/tests, check them out, I've included links at the end of my post. As you can see I’ve been a busy girl. What with wearing Goodnites to bed nightly, and pads during the day, I’ve been wearing more protection this past month, than I’ve worn in years. This was my usual routine all the way up through my undergraduate days, but it’s been a while. Anyhow, when I last ordered some Molicare diapers from my online source, I also asked for some random samples, and because I’d already tried out all their diaper samples, I asked them to throw in some pads as well. Thus, why I have this particular Tena incontinence pad. I can’t honestly remember the exact variety of pad this is, it’s been sitting in my pad collection, plumply teasing me for a while now, and it was finally time to test this puppy out. Of all the pads I’ve randomly assembled over the past few years, this one is by far the thickest. As you can see, it has the kinds of designs on the top which I like, and also impressive gathers that make it so the pad would not sit flat for its close-up. As you can also see, these pads are seriously thick. While I did appreciate the gathers, they felt too low (and not waterproof enough) given the overall thickness of the pad. I did like how the back is significantly wider (to catch serious leaks when you are sitting down), and the longer, elongated splash zone (the sort of honey-comb section right in the middle of the pad). If feel like this splash zone is like this to allow maximum rapid absorption. Lots of pads are absorbent, but one of the problems they run into is that they can’t absorb liquid fast enough. This is why a period pad designed to absorb say 50ml of blood will leak way before it’s absorbed that much pee, because it’s overwhelmed. These pads seems to instil confidence, and so with this confidence, I decided to ramp up my ‘experimental design.’ I had the entire afternoon to myself on a weekend, so I decided to fill my bladder with tea and juice. After lunch, I slipped the pad into my panties (lovely light purple ones with blue trim), and set about drinking a big mug of green tea (which goes right through me) followed by some delicious creamy mango juice. I had a little difficulty getting the pad to stick in my panties. It didn’t have any wings and the sticky stuff didn’t stick as well as it could have. This could have been on account of how old the pad was, and another confounding issue was my sticking the pad into my panties while they were off. This is actually harder to do. When your panties are around your ankles or thighs you can move your legs to make them taught, and it’s generally easier to fit a pad into your panties. Anyhow I got there in the end, but I wasn’t all that confident in the sticky part of the pad. I feel if I was pulling down my panties while wearing this pad, I’d worry about it falling out. This wasn’t something I needed to worry about however, as I was only planning on pulling my panties down after I had thoroughly wet the pad. A couple other observations of this pad, while it was still dry. I found it thick. Thicker than a Goodnite. I thought it was almost excessively thick. With a pad this thick, I immediately thought it would be for overnight use, but you simply would never wear a pad like this overnight, it lacks effective standing gathers to grab pee if you lay on your side, and it’s shorter design means that pee running down your back, if you are a back sleeper, would soak your bum. I mean it’s a little thicker in the back, but not that much. The thickness in the back suggests to me that it is clearly intended for daytime use. If someone suffered from incontinence sufficient to require a pad of this thickness during the day, I’d recommend a diaper, with proper gathers all the way down the sides, from experience. So I’m a little unsure as to the exact intention of the pad. I suppose it is designed for cover major and significant leaks on the way to the bathroom. Like a massive key-in-latch accident, or for someone who had very large leaks when the sneeze. I reckon it could also serve to catch the first significant portion of an OAB episode, giving you enough time to get the leak under control, and find a washroom. So I suppose I’ve talked myself into this pad, but well either way, I’d probably prefer a diaper for the sense of security and thinness. Also, it’s super thick, so much so that I would worry that a diaper would be more discreet even. It created a very distinct bulge in my panties. And it was wider than my girl-sized panties. Well, given the robust claims of this pad, I decided to give it a proper, full-bladder release, rather than just a sneeze-induced squirt. So after slipping these into my panties I drank a mug of tea and then headed out to run some errands. While wandering about the grocery store I was aware of the pad from time to time, particularly when I crossed my legs. Walking was also interesting. I chose to wear tights under a knee-length dress as I was pretty sure that this pad would be clearly visible in tight jeans or something similar. I feel like the pad sort of settled into my panties after a while (curving well to match my body shape) and it was almost possible to forget about it, but not quite, as it was pretty thick. Anyhow, by the time I got back, about an hour later, I was pretty full. I could feel myself filling up all the while I was shopping, and was at the state where when I left the store (6.5 on the desperation scale), I would have certainly visited the washroom. Lately I’ve been visiting more often, and I usually go ‘just in case’ if I’m anywhere near a 4 or 5. Anyhow, I got home and was at about a 7.5. I slipped off my tights right after getting in, and went about putting the groceries away. By the time this was done I was at an 8 or more and ready to pee. Because of the thickness of the pad, I was going to release a whole bladder. I didn’t want to pee in full force though, as few incontinence products can stand up to an aggressive sudden flood. So, after putting away the last pack of noodles, I stood with my legs about a foot-width apart, in the middle of my kitchen, and carefully relaxed my PC muscles. Rather than a hissing torrent of pee, I could feel a gentle trickle suffusing my sex with warm wetness. I strained (and yes I have been practicing me Kegel’s again) to keep the flow smooth and torrential, and did a pretty good job for about 20 seconds. Then my muscles were tired and I relaxed a little too much. This time the pee released at a pretty strong flow and I could feel my lower lips getting wetter and wetter. When my bladder was about 80% empty, I clenched and stopped the flow to a trickle, and then stopped. While I was soaking the pad, I could feel a little more wetness than usual on my left inner thigh. When you wet any incontinence product there is always a little lag while the product absorbs the liquid, but in this case, the wetness didn’t go away. Inspecting my panties after I waddled over to the bathroom, I noticed that the sort of frilly gathers were soaked on the left side. Because of the design of the standing gathers, they seem to collect liquid, and this left me feeling wet. Only a little got on my leg and I think if I had been wearing pants, the leak would not have been visible from the outside. Oh, and when I say waddle, I mean waddle, as the pad was very thick after absorbing almost a full Rachel bladder. As you can see, the pad did successfully hold an entire Rachel bladder. Purple panties are great for showing wet spots, and there were not wet spots on my panties after this experiment. Overall, my evaluation of these pads is good. They absorbed a lot (comparable to a Goodnite!), they were not uncomfortable, and I liked the coverage they give the bum. I think this is important, because while I do most of my tests standing somewhere in my apartment, people (myself included) have accidents sitting down and in otherwise not upright positions, and the bum tends to be where this pee goes. I bet these would also be pretty good for sleeping in, though the coverage in the back and front might not stand up to laying down. I’ll have to get another pad and test this out some night. Anyhow, hope you enjoyed this test and look for more coming soon. I’ve been testing out lots of pads lately! Rachel p.s. xxxxx 330
Great stuff :D Tena *do* make an overnight pad that's even wider and longer than that one and similarly, can hold almost a full pee at once without leaking. They're so big and so wide that they can easily be used by guys (especially if you flip them around so the wide end is at the front). They are *much* better than any of the 'proper' male pads are... There's a category of incontinence pads made for people who should really be wearing diapers, but don't want to. I can't remember where I saw it, but I heard a cute name for them once: denial pads. Guest skilful
I’ve seen these pads used by ladies with stress incontinence temporarily when dealing with a cold that involves lots of coughing as after a few days the pelvic muscles get weak enough that every cough causes a leak and these pads can hold out for much of the day compared to the usual liners or small pads. Bothan1138 425
Excellent review. I’m actually impressed that a pad could hold that much. 3 hours ago, supernerd222 said: denial pads That really is a good name for them. BlueWetter 500
Once again, another great job of testing this pad.. I really enjoy pad wetting and have even done it myself a few times.. It's a very good feeling, in my opinion Quote Link to comment

Oh they definitely can. One of the annoying things with thinner pads is that you have to change them after a leak. And like you day, if you are expecting lots of leaks in a row (like allergy season), then while the pad might catch leaks one and two, your panties and pants may still get wet from leaks three before you make it to the loo to change. 18 hours ago, Bothan1138 said: Excellent review. Definitely don't underestimate the feeling of independence. When I was young I was very excited to change to pads during the day, it gave me a huge feeling of being mature and well yeah. I remember growing up (and still to a large extent now), how I'd be too shy to change in the locker room when I was wearing a pad (much less a pullup) and always changed for gym in a bathroom stall. While some girls on my hockey team for example (I always wore shorts under my equipment), would have no problem showering with a tampon string hanging there, I could never do it... nappypants 1,402
On the pad or pull-up versus nappy debate... I know a lot of people with bladder problems want to feel they're still wearing "normal" or "adult" underwear more than just about anything else. So a pad that fits in your regular underwear is the easiest option to come to terms with, then behind that the pull-up style which you can still remove easily to use the toilet, then the tape-on product which you can't pretend is anything other than a nappy. So a highly absorbent pad will appeal to many, but the bulk, as you say, might make it more obvious than a nappy under some clothing! Then obviously there's the positioning issue. I've always thought that pads and pull-ups work for leakage or perhaps a heavier wetting in a standing position, for example when you're trying to get to the toilet but don't quite make it. If you're likely to have a substantial loss of control in another position, the nappy is the only thing that will really handle it. But it's also pretty much accepting you're not going to make it to the toilet. Quote Link to comment

When I was growing up and struggling with UI issues, I'd always wear a pad whenever I could, and never a pullup (during the day, night times I found pads useless). I'd only ever wear a pullup during the day when I had no choice (like long exams, long car rides and that sort of thing, as I found pads no so good for sitting down wettings or multiple leaks/accidents). One of the ready-excuses I had in case anyone saw the bulky(ish compared to this giant) pad in my undies, was that I was having a really heavy period. I usually avoided people seeing my underwear as often as I could, like changing in a bathroom stall for gym and that sort of thing. But changing for hockey and the such made panty revealing inevitable. I did confuse a few girls on my team who were certain I was the most irregular girl in the world. Actually, it was interesting, as because started wearing pads at an early age (9/10), they actually made me feel more grown up. I was the person my close friends came to when they forgot their pad or had an unexpected (or first) period, because they all found out, one way or another, that I wore pads (but usually didn't know the real reason). So I can definitely weigh in on the whole pads are more dignified than pullups discussion. Quote Link to comment
SanitaryPadLov 4
Have you ever tried wearing those tena Ultra night pads? Is it really that bulky and visible as ,,xxxxx" said? I was wondering that maybe i would try to order them into a pick up point, and then i would go on my first short holding trip, especially with a full bladder but i want to be confident as it will be my first walk with this thing. Maybe i should do a post about it? 🤔 Quote Link to comment
