this was a few days ago. So I was buying stuff from my local supermarket. I asked if that till is open because there was no line at that cash register. The woman said yes. She was a hispanic (possibly mexican) young woman with glasses. I noticed behind her an almost finished iced coffee and other snacks and drinks. As she was ringing the items up, she couldn't even stand still. She kept moving side to side and rung the items up with great urgency. I didn't really noticed it too much at first. I put my bags out and had my cart ready. I took out my card and swiped the register to pay. As soon as the reciept came out of the machine I saw her dash out of the register. I didn't even have the time to say "thank you have a nice day" she didn't even help putting the items in the bags. Which I was fine with because this seemed to be a treat for me. I think she was desperate to pee but I'm not 100 percent sure. Sure she was uneasy, restless, and was moving around while ringing me up. But she didn't do a pee dance, cross legs, or bob up and down or suck her teeth (or any other cliche coping mechanism desperate to pee people do) maybe she had to another assignment and I caught her at a bad time. or she was hopped up on the coffee (which happens to me when i drink a lot of coffee) I would like to think there was some desperation involved bc it would be so hot seeing someone just drop everything the millisecond they finish ringing someone up and then dash to the toilet in order to not pee. but some cases are more ambiguous than others. I have seen 100 percent real desperation, minor desperation, and even someone peeing in public. But there are going to be the grey areas in which we never know.

I saw the cashier desperate today when I went to buy groceries. When at the checkout, the cashier on the first register said she wanted to close to go to the toilet, but she would help me quickly. I had more stuff than she had expected and also had to return something. Then, halfway through my stuff, more customers came and put their items on the conveyor belt. She wanted to protest, but there were more people coming and she had to stay open. Her colleague on the second lane knew what was going on and told her "no problem, I'll fetch you a towel later on". And she herself said "good thing I brought another set of clothes". I am sure they were unaware of any community like this and just joking :) No one besides me had heard that she wanted to go to the toilet. I came closer to the cashier when I put my things back into the shopping cart. Watching her from the side, I could see her crossed legs and rocking back and forth a little. When I was done, two more people came around the corner and got into her queue. When charging me for my groceries and bread, she used the wrong numbers and clearly had trouble concentrating. When the second try to enter the right number for my vegetables failed, she just charged me some other price that was cheaper for me and mumbled "I can't do this" or something similar. I couldn't understand it very well, but she just shoved the items towards me, well knowing that she had still put in the wrong item number. I paid and went home, but you should know that the whole checkout side of the store is made of glass walls, so if one would have wanted to watch her from the outside until she would be finally able to go (it was during a peak shopping hour though) - or not - it would have been easily possible. Judging from the queue and the people in the store, she did have a big struggle ahead.
