I think it is a biological thing to block peeing while you are in erection. Since both fluids are going in the same tube at one point during the expulsion process. I read scientific studies saying it is a nature thing, preservation of the species process. It is not really a trope since it tends to be realistic, bit since we are in a fantasy world why not seatch for perfect stuff even if it is not 100% accurate to reality ? Anyway the "trope" that tends to annoy me is when the character is trying very hard to hold it but cannot find a bathroom, and in the process leaks every minute, and in the process also comments on how they expect they will make it soon, before they have an accident. For me, as soon as some pee has been expelled, a leak or not, it is too late to pretend trying to make it. Worse sometimes there is details about how damp the panties are, about the fact there is a spot the size of a baseball on the pants crotch, but the character (i.e. the writer) is still trying to build the tension around the idea "Will the character make it in time ?". If that point is reached, then it is far too late for that, and I have lost interest in the character's desperation, since one of the main motivation for a character must be not to wet panties. I know I am very obsessive with my fetish, but I really want the character to keep dry pants and panties until the finale (where, very cruelly, there will be a massive wetting, an "almost made it" scenario). I don't think a story can qualify as an almost made it (or a just made it) scenario if the character has a wet spot on the clothes the last hour of the story before reaching the bathroom.
