  1. Dreams do come true. After 12 years and a studio hop, the infamous cliffhanger ending of Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt will be getting a continuation. Panty & Stocking is a sexualized, crude, disgusting, hilarious show. Glad to see more of it. Just remember that Scanty & Kneesocks are better than those angel skanks.
  2. I'm telling you, complaining about Nowi's outfit is useless, this girl looks great no matter what she wears. Yes, that includes "nothing".
  3. The plot of Sonic Frontiers is looking solid.
  4. Now those are some good-looking Mudkips.
  5. Ah, finally, the wait is over and confirmation has come: Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection releases in 2023. I've never played the Battle Network games, they're some of the only main Mega Man games I've never played, so a collection with all 6, and alternate versions, is very welcome. Now, if only it included Star Force the same way Zero and ZX were bundled together. I might have to suck it up and buy a real Star Force 3 cartridge.
  6. Now that I've seen the Gurren Lagann movies, I am finally a complete man. These major pieces of the series, always so difficult to get a hold of, now finally in my collection. Don't expect too much out of them. For the most part, they're both recaps, but the need to condense them into feature-length films leads not to drastic rewrites (wouldn't be able to use most of the same animation that way), but cutting of a lot of details that wreak havoc on character arcs. Most changes end up being for the worse. How much they trimmed Rossiu's role in the second movie is the stuff of infamous legend. Like, it's the same points A to B, but nothing feels earned because there's nothing in the middle. These stories aren't paced like a traditional movie even without abridging, leading to the structure being disjointed. There's so much missing that they would be pretty unwatchable if you weren't already familiar with the source. The music cues also end up being off most of the time, and they still had the gall to make me look at episode 4 animation. Plus, the movies were never dubbed, and aside from segments in the DS game, this was my first long-form exposure to the Japanese cast. The English cast is better. But let's be real, nobody is talking about the movies as complete packages. They are strictly talking about the new sequences. The new stuff that's just there to paint over the inconsistencies that would be present using all the old animation (though there's no explanation as to why Nia has short hair during the fight with Lordgenome, which is the start of the second movie instead of the end of the first, and that's weird), that's all pretty worthless, but the entirely new moments are worthwhile. I really like the opening to the first movie, they had to replace the one from the series because it was wholly inaccurate, replacing that with Lordgenome's fight with the Anti-Spiral was a good choice. The new climax in the first movie, with Team Dai-Gurren against Viral, Adiane, Guame, and Cytomander all at once was very entertaining. And of course, the new finale to the second movie is legendary in the community. Even if it doesn't have the same thematic or emotional weight, it's satisfying to see. I'm only so critical because I love Gurren Lagann so much. I used the movies to cap off watching the full series for the first time on Blu-Ray, and it just hits right. I can't truly express how much I love Gurren Lagann.
  7. If you haven't been listening to GO!! Light Up!'s Metal Gear Rising covers, do so. They would be good covers regardless, but they go the extra mile and add an extra verse to each song (sans Rules of Nature) that makes them a more traditional length and fit thematically. Now I can only hope they will be the first ones to cover The Hot Wind Blowing.
