  1. Pros of living alone: omo whenever I want. I get to ignore the entire world.

Cons of living alone:  I don't actually want it as much as you'd think. How do I move this old desk out of my foyer, its bigger than me.

Hey, something from my day job is actually applicable here!  🤣   I'm probably way too late to the party, but here's a wall-of-text on how I'd move that desk, lol!:

Are you moving the desk up / down some stairs, or are you trying to move it to a different room on the same level?  If it's the latter, plastic sliders are one of the best options --- definitely get enough to put under each corner! (That includes if it has drawers on the one side: get four for each corner of that one side and two on the other... or eight if it's got drawers on both sides.)  Plastic-bottom sliders would be best for moving over carpet, and should be fine over hardwood, though go slow to make sure you're not causing damage.  If it leaves streaks, they will probably just be from the plastic, but definitely make sure your floor can take it!  They do make fabric bottomed-ones in case you want to be extra careful, and if you stack those on top of the plastic-bottomed ones, it might make moving it even easier!

(Basically these things.)  I recommend the long ones, but make sure they are oriented so that they are parallel to the direction you are moving.  Like skis, lol.

If you have to move it upstairs or down off of a porch or something, then things'll be a bit more complicated...  I'd say, take all the drawers out --- which can be difficult depending on the type of drawer-slide the desk uses.
Most of them should have little plastic clips in the rails or something, just push those up or down and pull the drawer out.  It shouldn't take an excessive amount of force, but it'll kind of pop out.  Most of the time, those plastic clips will need to be pushed in opposite directions, since they use the same slide for both sides and just flip it over.

      Kind of like this:  https://s3.amazonaws.com/media.zinio.ahpc.us/images/woodsmith/2011-02-01/metal-drawer-slides-easy-installation-drawer-slide-mounting-aids/5349595_snip_1548737920688.png

If the drawers have a single, bottom-middle-rail that ends with a plastic catch like this... may God have mercy on your poor soul... 😬  https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/61neJjpUarL.__AC_SX300_SY300_QL70_FMwebp_.jpg

I am convinced those are designed to break, because they almost always lose one of their gripper-arm- things on the back of the drawer when you pull it out...  If that's the case, try to empty the desk before moving it, but unless you are really careful, I don't recommend pulling them out.

Anyway, if you can get the drawers out, the desk should be considerably lighter.  If you're by yourself, you can put those aforementioned sliders under the corners of the side you're not on and lift your side to drag it around much more easily.  I don't think stairs are going to be possible if you are alone unless we're talking a porch stairway that's shorter than the desk is long.  If that's the case, you can drag it out to the top step and carefully walk it back a step at a time.  It'd be tedious as hell, but you can go back to the top of the stairs and push it down again one stair at a time once you've got your side on the ground.

(Or, if you're feeling dangerous --- or dangerously impatient, like I am 😁, you can lay a blanket and carboard down and tilt the desk up so it's standing on its side!  Then twist it around and bring it back down so you can cart it / slide it wherever.)  Anyway I hope this helps you are anyone else who's got to do some moving in the future!

I for one welcome the complete and total solitude.
