  1. Damn headaches, man. They suck when it comes to trying to remain productive with stuff. Ugh.

  2. Aaaand you've instantly lost all respect that I may have been starting to have for you. Not the other guy tho, he's still cool, but you're still now most CERTAINLY wrong. Ai is not a high tech pencil. DRAWING TABLETS are a high tech pencil. Saying an ai is a Hi-Tech pencil is like saying that a cheater in an fps game is skilled. Do not disrespect me or the rest of the REAL art community like this ever again please. "Ai is a high-tech pencil." Smh... What a load of bull'. Just to be clear, this is the dude I said was still cool.
  3. Thank you! This wardrobe for Aries Prime is actually a modernized rendition of her original appearance! Oh no... In fact, I actually still have the hardcopy of her original 2017/2018 ref sheet, alth- Nooo no no no! Please don't show that. Your art style really used to suck back then! >Opportunity Detected You know.... Originally, I wasn't going to... Cat, nooo.... ..buuuuut now I want to show my shitty old art style. .... Please don't....
  4. Shit, there are parts here I agree with, but I still refuse to call it art. I agree with the idea that ai operators should at the very least diligently keep track of the artists behind the learning data, if not to create a linkable folder with the learning data, although I would prefer my art never be used to train a model. I agree with paying the original artists of the learning data used to train a model, although I would see less integrity in those artists who do so and would absolutely never do so myself. I agree that AI gens should not be used to make money. I agree that ALL ai gens should be properly labeled. On all platforms. I personally disagree with how "good" the images are, but then again, I have that sense towards some aspects of real artists' art styles, but I'm still often able to tell gens from art on my own, so perhaps that comparison is invalid. I see the overutilization of AI to create gens as a bad thing because it may push out actual artists or discourage the next generation from actually pursuing becoming an artist, even if it's only as a hobby. More representation is a bit of a self-fallacy, due to how ai training works and I can't really get myself to see it in such a light. It just feels too artificial to me if it wasn't done by a human. As a person fascinated by the growing abilities of computers and artificial intelligence, a part of me is insanely impressed by the current state of artificial intelligences' abilities to generate convincing approximations of many different types of images, be it cartoonish, photo-realistic, anime, or otherwise. But the skeptic in me can't ignore the risks of leaving something so powerful like this in the hands of literally anyone and everyone. It's less like seeing an image being made and more like seeing the mental image of what the ai might — for lack of a better term — want to make. Like how us artists usually have a mental picture of what we want to draw before actually putting our pencil to paper, or our stylus to the screen. Hmmm.... Yeah... I think I might finally allow myself to be impressed by an ai's abilities when one is able to finally use the mental image being made in their mind from what they've seen to plot out an actual artistic process of going from a blank canvas to the sketch, linework and finally the coloring. Because anyone can think a very stunning visual or final product and see it in their own mind, but it takes an actual artist to put that mental image to form. I suppose my new understanding of them is seeing a projection of what they're thinking, rather than what they could actually draw. I will finally be amazed by it only once an ai which has not only been trained on image learning data, but also trained on how artists actually draw, decides to pick up a pen/stylus and draw what it sees in its mind. I'm sorry if that last bit comes off as cheesy, but I think it explains my now-current views well. My only request is that you call them gens please. I won't force it, but a part of me does of cringe a bit every time someone calls gens "art". Hmmm... All of that being said, I think I actually see a little bit in it now... But I still don't recognize the mental image of what a person or program "wants" to make as a form of art on its own.
  5. Underrepresented in art? (as in art, not ai gens) Yes. But any amount is overrepresented when ai is concerned if you ask me. I was going to thank you for at least not calling it art, but then I realized I was misreading weird line spacing on the post. Ai isn't art, it's an affront to art as a practiced art. That being said, this is all I choose to say here. Bomb this comment into oblivion if you want, I stand by this statement.
  6. I know right? Anyways, it may have taken me a whole day, but I finally found Aries; the first one, that is! *click* Hello, Aries! Long time no illustration! heh. It's 7pm, what do you want? Alright, just hear me out.- Well that's not concerning at all. Oh shush, you. I know I haven't had a reason to draw you for years now, but I've started an "interactive thread" for the older characters of my dead-end projects prior to the current ongoing one, I just thought you might want to be the first one, considering you've been the center of so many of them, it'd give you plenty to talk about! Sounds interesting I guess... I'll be drawing images to go along with most of your interactions with the public. ....When do we start? Right now if you want!
  7. Hello everyone of the org! It's me: your local C.A.T. and I'm ALIIIIIVE, but, I'm also feeling a bit nostalgic for site culture from roughly a decade ago! Back then, I remember vividly when artists here used to do those sketch-interactive style OC q&a threads. I was reading through a few of them and figured that maybe I could try handing off the reigns of this topic to some older characters of mine, just for old times' sake, although feel free to ask me anything you like as well! That said, I hope you'll understand that it may take me awhile to get them here to say hello.
  8. This is a test, why don't color options appear in the topic creation toolbar?

  9. Also, I'd very much like there to be spam punishments served out to the accounts flooding the galleries with mindless ai drivel. And I stand by that, especially since the only warning I ever received on my account was from "repeated low quality posts" from way back when I first joined. There's a whole story behind it, don't ask. But still, whenever I bring up banning the spam, people always give me grief over being too harsh and I'm sick and tired of it. I want ai gens gone from the main art galleries. And apparently the most reasonable way to ask for that is to ask for a new galley division to be made. Otherwise the gens will continue to displace and choke out the real artworks.
  10. by definition it is not art. you speak of art as though it is ONLY the product, I speak of art as a practice and a form; the skills to know a process to get to a result, which includes the proof of the creative process occurring (the product). we are not the same.
  11. what part of us having a problem with the fact that actual art pieces and artists are being forced to share a gallery with massive dumps of ANY quality of mass-produced ai gens did you not understand upon reading any of this? I'm not getting mad, I'm just completely at a loss for how you could miss the fact that this is more a problem of unfair competition and displacement of the actual artworks that take time to make. It's less so that it's on the website and more so the fact that there isn't a gallery level to sort away ai gens from the overall less frequent art uploads. Actual art is being blocked from new viewers by invading and pushing out the less frequent uploads. it's a nuisance for new artists, regardless of the quality that the gens are. Also, I say all of this as someone who personally wishes ai gens would get outright banned, but I'm only arguing that they should have new galleries made for them instead, because I know that will be the right decision to make, even if it isn't the ultimate outcome I want the most, I will prioritize asking for a fair change to the site, rather than the banishment of a type of content entirely. regardless of how soulless and worthless it may be. AI gens unfortunately have a niche place on this website and it really hurts me to admit that. especially since I wish it weren't true. ugh, I really hope ai at least gets its own galleries and forum branches. someone who actually said what I just said above only in fewer words.
  12. again, by the definition of art, ai gens are anything BUT art. there is no human intent behind the specific code executions done to generate the image. and if you try to argue that inputting the keywords counts as human intent, then I still must disagree, because, last I checked, commissioning an art piece from an artist and telling them what you'd like them to draw doesn't suddenly make you an artist too.
