Dimwitrolo 3,018
".....Systems failing, please report to the bridge." ... "All systems failing, please report to the bridge." ... "All syste-KZZTZZZ" A loud hiss sounds as the stasis chamber De-pressurises and air rushes in. The chamber door slowly opens with a groan as the mechanism struggles to force itself into action. Alex has a similar problem as she's forced awake, doing her best not to fall on her face. Alex opens her eyes hesitantly, adjusting them to the light as she does. She forces herself out the chamber, cringing at the cold touch of the metal floor against her bare feet. She presses the door forward with one hand, cringing again as the sound of alarms and sirens tear through the now open door. Alex takes in a deep breath and readies herself to step further out the chamber. Her other foot hits the cold ground with a soft slap, and she winces again at the sudden cold. She stumbles forward toward the control panel on the wall nearest to the door. *Click* "Computer....yawn...W-what's going on?" "kzzzzz...." "Computer?" "What?" "What's going - Can you shut these alarms up? I've just woke up..." The alarms go silent. "What did you want?" The speakers ask. "What's going on?" Alex asks, yawning again. "Major system failure." states the computer. "Severe damage detected. Recommend immediate evacuation." "Evacuation?" "Evac - Oh hold on." "What do you mean hold on?" Alex yawns. The computer doesn't reply for a moment. "Computer?" "Multiple issues detected. Evacuation no longer possible." "Why not?" "No escape pods." "Computer?" "What?" "You're acting strange. Did someone plug in some new personality program?" "Significant damage detected to computer mainframe. And it really bloody hurts." "Oookay..." Alex says, walking into the middle of the room. She stretches and yawns again. "Can you give me a damage report?" "Major damage is detected." "Yes, but where." "I...don't know." "What do you mean, you 'don't know'?" "I can't get a response from the damage report machine. It would appear to be damaged." Alex sighs and drops her arms to her side. She presses herself up on her tiptoes a couple times, before walking over to the screen again. "How are your CCTV systems? Can you follow me?" She asks. A camera descends from the ceiling at the corner of the room. "It would appear that the CCTV systems are faulty. I can't get a visual." Alex sighs again. "Try turning around." she says. The camera swivels. It looks about and then focuses on Alex. "Update. CCTV systems have been repaired." "Now what?" Alex asks, walking about the room. "The ships in bad shape, what can I do?" "Recommend you attempt to repair critical systems." The computer responds, it's eye fixed on Alex as she paces. "Shouldn't I leave that to the repair crews?" "What repair crews?" "What?" Alex asks. "What do you mean, 'what repair crews'? Aren't they on board?" "Negative." "Have you done a life sign scan?" "Hold on. I'll do it now." The computer says. The camera freezes in place, no longer following Alex. After a few seconds it flicks back into life and refocuses on Alex. "Scan complete." "What are the results?" "One." "One." Alex repeats. "What do you mean one?" "One life form on board." "What is it?" Alex asks. "You don't mean-" "You." Alex takes a moment to let that sink in. She's the only life form detected on board. "And you're absolutely sure?" Alex asks again. "You've scanned the entire ship?" "Yes. Well, no. Significant damage across the ship could result in faulty reporting." The computer responds. "So there could be more life on board?" "Possibly." "You're a big help." "No need for sarcasm" "So now what?" Alex asks. She sits on the floor, leaning against the wall below the computer panel. "What should I do?" "Recommend basic post-stasis excersizes - You should stretch, eat, use the bathroom, get into a uniform, and perform emergency routines." "What emergency routines?" "Visit the armoury. Try not to get killed by anything. Also, see if you can't reach the local command room - perhaps you could fix a local damage scanner." "Right...I'll get to that..." "You've just got out of stasis Alex, you should consider that you won't be at your highest mental capacity for some time. Try not to make poor decisions." "Sure...let me just plan how I'm going to do this..." What does Alex do? A) Bathroom, canteen, armoury, command room. B) Command room, Canteen, Armoury, Bathroom. C) Armoury, Command room, Bathroom, Canteen. D) Canteen, Bathroom, Armoury, Command room. E) Other Quote Link to comment
Melificentfan 1,215 Posted June 20, 2018 ✨ Legendary Member Share Posted June 20, 2018 I'll go with B Quote Link to comment
rangatan 7
Let's go with D. Need to fill up and empty out before doing anything high-risk, especially after going out of stasis. Quote Link to comment
DerivativeWings 1,648
I've figured it out! All Dimwitrolo interactives actually take place in the same universe! The secret is revealed! Anyway, B seems reasonable. Command room to check on the ship, canteen to see if there is food to survive. If we find dangerous life-forms on the ship, going to the armory might early would be a good idea. Why would we need to use the bathroom after sleeping in a stasis chamber for a million years or whatever (or maybe it's been less time, unclear so far), that's silly. Quote Link to comment
Potty-Polly 128
B purely because im evil and want to make the poor commander wait as long as possible to use the bathroom Quote Link to comment

Unbeknownst 197
I vote E) Armoury, Canteen, Command, Bathroom Logic: Armoury - (To get something to protect self with.) Canteen - (To get self functioning again.) Command - (To get more information about the ship status and general environment.) Bathroom - (Because you gotta do it at some point.) ... Also Alex is a perfectly fine name for a girl. I know several (Alexis, Alexa, and an Alexandra) that prefer Alex because it's short. Quote Link to comment

Rabidwolf346 5
I'll say E. Armoury, Command, Canteen, Bathroom. First. Visit the armoury to arm ourselves. Just because the computer can only read one life sign doesn't mean there aren't hostiles aboard. They may not have life signs (robots etc), have tech that masks their life signs or are in areas where ships scanners aren't working, or could be alien life that the computer doesn't recognize as alive. Second. Go to command to work out what does and doesn't work. Also determine where is safe or not to go for planning future trips around the ship. Third. Go to the canteen, assuming it's safe, and stock up on food/drink. Preferably portable food/drink so we can eat/drink and travel. Finally. Bathroom. Out of all the options it's the one that will not kill us if something goes wrong. Quote Link to comment

Dimwitrolo 3,018
"So." Says Alex. "Emergency routines sounds like the best plan." "That would appear so." The computer says, it's eye watching her every move. "Oh, I should tell you, there are some actions you must take after recovering from stasis sleep." "Okay." Says Alex. She turns to look at the camera. ... "Well?" She asks. "What do you mean?" "What are the actions I need to take?" "Two sugars and milk, if you - Sktttttttzzzz" The camera falls limp. Shortly after, so do Alex's arms. For a moment nothing happens. Just the sounds of the ship creaking as it lurches along. Then the camera springs back to life. It swivels around until it can fix a gaze on Alex. "Well. That's not a good start." Alex says, putting one hand on her hip. "Want to try that again?" "Try what again?" The computer asks. Alex sighs. "You said there were important things I need to do now I'm out of stasis." "That's right." Says the computer. ... "Oh for...is there a way we can fix you at all? Something tells me you're quite badly damaged." "Well - you could head into the command room down the hall way." Says the computer. "If you can reboot the localised network, I may be able to sort some of this out." "Sort some of it out?" "That's right." "Technical terms, I presume?" "So where is the command room?" Alex asks. The camera swivels around the room, before fixing itself on the doorway. "Over there." Alex looks in the cameras direction to the door. It's a large steel door, sleek and well polished, though it shows signs of aging. There's a small computer panel just to the left of it. Alex walks over to it and the panel slides out the wall as if to greet her. "Okay computer - what now?" "Use the panel to open the door." "How do I do that?" "I should assume by pressing the big green button that says 'open'." Alex looks to the panel. It lights up and some shapes show up on the screen - most significantly are a large green rectangle with some smaller white shapes on it. "Computer." "What's up, homeboy?" "Homeboy? Nevermind - Why can't I read?" "...." "Computer?" "Hold on.". Alex taps her foot impatiently on the ground, her toes drumming on the hard surface. She stands for a good twenty seconds before she gets a response. "Computer?" "Ah. There you are. I think I know why you can't read." "Good." "...". The computer goes silent. "Would you mind telling me?" "Oh, of course - Considering that you've just awoke from stasis sleep, your brain is struggling to recall basic functions, such as the ability to read. It may also include: The ability to feel heat, the ability to speak, and the ability to read." "I can speak just fine, thanksh." "Right - How's about you just press the big green button." Alex taps the button. Nothing happens. "Hmm. Try tapping it again." Alex taps the button. And again. She smacks the panel downward with her hand. The door slides open. "Which way now?" Alex asks, stepping into the hallway. To either side of Alex there is a plain white hall, with similar steel doors to the one she's just left, each door labelled with a metal panel which Alex is still unable to understand. At one end of the hallway is a particularly large door, spanning the width of the corridor. "Commm" Alex mumbles, trying to read the massive bar of text above the door. "...Commarrn.....Comm-and-rooooom. Command room?" "Gee, look at you, learning how to read again." The computer says. As she steps into the hall, a new camera descends from the ceiling to watch her. It looks at her from top to bottom, top to toe - as if to confirm it's the same single life form on the ship. "So I should go there first?" "Well, it should work. Might get me up and running properly." "That'd be helpful, you're acting up a bit right now." Alex says, watching as the camera occasionally flicks violently to the left. "Well stop vibrating there and get inside the control room, will you." Alex pads over to the control panel in front of the large stainless steel doors of the command room. The panel slides out the wall, opening up the same screen as before, though this time Alex finds she can read it. She presses the 'open' button - which this time works. The command room opens up. It's a cold room with monitors and keyboards and other technical things that Alex doesn't quite think she's ready to comprehend. "C-computer, can you tell me what I need to do here?" "Hmm." Comes the computers voice, as a new camera pops down from above. It scans itself over the interface. "Have you tried turning it off and on again?" Alex ignores the computer and steps inside - the metal floor is even colder than the others, chilling her feet and making her wince. She steps up toward the interface, which is glowing with error signs and nonsense text. "C-computer?" Alex says, putting one hand on her body. "S-something feels wrong." "Yeah...it's probably all these lines here - none of them make any sense. Nonsense lines and binary and -" "No computer - I mean with me. I feel...odd. Inside." "Probably something to do with stasis sickness - you'll be fine." "S-sure....Anyway - what should we do about this computer?" "Try running a debugger." "How?" "I....Just go up and press stuff - I'm sure you'll work something out." Alex walks toward the interface. The flickering lights and text in front of her don't cease as she reaches the keyboard as she was hoping they might. She leans over the keyboard and something inside her starts to feel painful - though she's no idea why. Something...familiar. She kicks one leg up and that seems to help. They keyboard in front of her doesn't offer too much help - though a massive red button under a lid seems promising. The button reads 'Emergency reboot.' Alex flips the lid over and presses it down hard. The ship goes silent. The lights go out. The camera falls limply in front of Alex - she can't see it, but she can hear it on it's swivel as it hangs forlornly somewhere behind her. "W-well." She says, turning to lean on the interface, hugging her arms to her chest as she starts to get cold. "T-this doesn't look good." The lights flicker back on - slowly at first. Auxiliary lights flicker on, dim and green in the distance, before the main lights of the hallway come back to life once more. A musical jingle plays the whole way through the corridor, and the camera flicks back into life once more. It fixes its gaze on Alex. "Well. That seems to have helped." The computer says. "I feel faster already." "What? How can you tell?" Alex asks. "...." "Computer?" "It's all to do with retrieving memory, I just feel it going smoother." "Greeeaaat." Alex says, rubbing her body again. "Look, I feel really sick right now-" "Have you completed your post-stasis activities?" "What? No - you broke down after your tried to tell me what they were." "Oh. Well. Get to the canteen - you could very well be on the verge of starving to death." "I guess that would make me feel ill." The canteen isn't much of a walk - it's the first door to the right of the command room. The canteen is a large-ish room, with multiple tables lined up, with tiny round stools around them. The back of the canteen has the kitchen - though the food there is now entirely limited to emergency rations - Dietary nutrition smoothies. "Oh, great, these." Alex says as she walks toward the canteen's supply. "Why couldn't I forget about these? I could forget how to read, but I can't forget how awful these taste." "Well when you get your own ship you can choose what lunches you have - but on board my vessel you have Future Nutrient smoothies." "Alright, 'mum'" Alex says, taking a pot down from the shelves and pouring the liquid into a mug. She puts the mug in a microwave for thirty seconds. "couldn't you just eat it cold, Alex?" The computer asks. "The microwave always plays up with my audiokrrrtzzzttzzz" Alex looks up at the camera as the speakers blare out white noise. "Might have to use these ovens more often." She says, smiling. With a 'ding' the microwave stops and the camera focuses back on Alex. "I heard that last remark." "So I should be feeling better now, right?" Alex asks. "Well. Ideally." Says the computer. "Otherwise there's something very wrong with you indeed." "A-and you're sure there's nothing else that might be making me feel like this?" She asks, getting nervous. "Only I feel like there's something...inside me." "That could be parasites. That would be bad." "P-parasites?" "Or tumours. Stasis has been known to cause massive tumours when not procedures are not followed correctly." "Stop! I don't want to hear any more...I'll just put up with my tumour-parasite-things. But it is really starting to hurt..." "We could get you some pain killers from the medi-bay." "That sounds good. Where is it?" "I don't know." "Computer." Alex says, after a pause. "What do you mean you don't know where the medi bay is?" "My internal navigation system must be damaged. For now though, I can direct you to......the armoury." "The armoury?" "Yes." "Great - that way, if it is a parasite, I can fucking shoot myself. Thanks computer!" "Now now, you watch your language." The computer says. "Besides, it is procedure that the highest ranked member on board the ship be armed at all times." "And as the only one on board the ship..." Alex says, trailing off. The armoury is located opposite the canteen. The armoury is much smaller - it's a lot warmer too, and all around a much more pleasant place. It's quite dark though, on account of the light bulb being hanging out it's socket. It might be pleasant if not for the growing pain inside Alex. "Computer, is there nothing I can do about this pain?" "Not until we reach the medi-bay. Though it does sound quite serious - I may need to run some indepth scans. It's not usual to leave stasis in such pain." "Aaarrwww...." Alex moans. "This is just getting worse..." "Well - let's hurry then - grab yourself that pistol and put the holster on. We'll try finding the medi-bay as quickly as we can." "O-okay, let me just get this on and- *Fffsssht.* Something hot and warm shoots into Alex's uniform, accompanied with a small hiss and a sudden sense of relief. That's when it all floods back to her - just before it all floods out of her. The pain - the feeling that there was something inside... "C-Computer. I know what the damn problem is now." "What's wrong?" "I...I have to piss. You arse." "..." "All that pain was me needing the toilet - Of course! It's one of the first things to do after stasis - You're meant to tell me to do that. FIRST. THING. Stupid machine - t-take me to the toilet n-now please, I-I'm really on the edge of bursting here." "Yes. Toilet. Of course. It's just down the corridor-" Before the computer even finishes speaking, Alex has bolted out the room, clutching herself between her hands. Her uniform is already warm and damp - and now that she knows what she's feeling inside of her, she knows that she might be close to making it much warmer, and much damper. "Third door to the left" The computer shouts, as Alex pounds down the hall way, bare feet slapping against the hard floor. As she reaches the third door - another steel one with a large red 'Womans' sign on the front - she runs into the wall, shoulder first. She hops back a few steps and lets the door panel open out the wall. "Error." Comes a new mechanical voice from the pad. "F-fuck off! Error..." Alex shouts at the panel. "Let me in you bastard!" "Please enter passkrrrrzzz" "Oh, you absolute - Grr! - I'm going to piss in your mainframe!" "Now Alex - no need for that." Says the computer, as a new camera descends over her. "Have you tried pressing open?" "Have you tried not asking stupid questions?" "A-Ack! I felt some more come out!" Alex shouts, hopping up and down on the spot. "Quickly - computer - what can I do? I c-could rewire it, right? T-that might work?" "In your state?" The computer asks, swivelling around to look at her face. "You're Stasis sick, and you're hopping up and down like you're mad." "W-what else is there!?" Alex shouts, grappling with the control panel which responds by droning 'error, error'. "I could....remotely access the door network for this area, by remotely accessing the door network override, which -" "W-would it open the door!?" Alex shouts. "Yes." "T-then fucking do it!" "It will take a while." "Oh for - I'm just going to break through the door - stand back!" "Shouldn't you think this through, Alex?" "Hnnng, no time to think this through - quick - I'm going to: A) Rewire it. I-It can't be too hard, right?" B) Let the computer do it - but hurry, computer - Or you're mopping this up!" C) Break open the doors - I can't hold it any more! Zorb, AkenoSama, Axnar and 4 others 7 Quote Link to comment
