Tashi 26
Apologize if you'd like. Japanese, means people from Japan. Jap, short for Japanese, means people from Japan. Sorry I don't see where the slur part comes in? I'm Canadian, if someone called me a Can, it would still refer to where I'm from. If you're from Britain, your called a Brit: British means your from Britain, Brit is short for British, which means your from Britain. ...But, yes, it's a moot point because I'm not Japanese and not the one being offended. Just wanted to put this out there. Ranpalan, BloopBloop and qdc1963 2 1 Quote Link to comment
Kez 374
^ Me either. In the automotive world, we frequently say 'Jap' to refer to pretty much anything Japanese-made. If anything, it's usually a compliment Quote Link to comment

hwknyc1980 3
except Can isnt a slur from world war II, when Japs... were in plenty of concentration camps... I'm Japanese American by the way. I understand the short patience for an over sensitivity to things, but seriously, we all have things we are sensitive about. try being more understanding. Sorry I don't see where the slur part comes in? I too was a late bloomer in realizing it's a racial slur, except I learned it from a crowd of people, haha. Google world war 2 Japanese propaganda in the images tab, and you'll see why people refer to it as a racial slur unlike "Brit" or "Can". We're talking about countries. There are three countries in our America. But if we're using continents, yeah I guess so, we're Ame's. x) Quote Link to comment

Because it's been historically used in a derogatory and racist fashion Quote Link to comment
wether 578
Isn't it the same woman as here: Looks similar. Anyway, good desperation. mikev 1 Quote Link to comment
Riptide101 180
Jap was a derogatory term used in WW2 as an insult to Japanese. "Slap a Jap across the lake," was one derogatory phrase that was common amongst many others. I'm not trying to harass anyone or call people out, I was simply pointing out a mistake that I too made once. But enough about this, like OP said, let's just enjoy the videos :) Quote Link to comment
