anonymousJS 12 Posted December 4, 2018 (edited) This is actually a common issue. This happens because the zip file is encoded in Japanese but Windows is trying to extract it with an English based decoder. What you have to do is set your locale to Japanese and restart your computer before you unzip the file so Windows uses the correct encoding. Quick edit: since this game is made with the Japanese version of RPG Maker XP, you also have to run it while using either the Japanese locale or a locale emulator. ZerGo 0 Posted December 4, 2018 (edited) I don't have RPG Maker XP. Do I need to download it before Unzip? Or can someone give me a link with an "English" zip version of the game ? Edited December 4, 2018 by ZerGo (see edit history) Quote Link to comment

This may sound like a silly question but have you installed the RPG Maker XP RTP? All games made in any incarnation of the RPG Maker product require their respective RTPs to be installed before any game made in them can be played. You can find the mentioned RTP right here. Make sure you click the button that says 'RPG Maker XP' before hitting download. ? Quote Link to comment

anonymousJS 12 Posted December 8, 2018 (edited) Just to be sure we're talking about the same download, is this the exact button you clicked to download it? (Note that it says "Run Time Packages" at the top) Edited December 8, 2018 by anonymousJS (see edit history) Quote Link to comment
ZerGo 0 Posted December 8, 2018 Yes it is. If I launch the .exe I get the photo (1) on the left and if I launch the .rxproj I get the photo (2) on the right Quote Link to comment
anonymousJS 12 Posted December 10, 2018 Okay. I had never seen that second error message before so I wanted to be sure. Is there a file in the same directory as "Game.exe" named "Ver1.0からのセーブデータ引継ぎについて.txt"? If so then you did extract the game properly. You also need to either change your system locale to Japanese prior to running the game or run the game using a locale emulator set to Japanese. Instructions for Changing the System Locale Windows 10 Open Settings from the Start Menu Go to "Time & Language" > "Region & Language" On the right-hand sidebar, click "Administrative language settings" Click "Change system locale..." Say yes to the admin prompt Select "Japanese (Japan)" from the drop down list. This list is sorted alphabetically by language. Click "Restart now" when prompted Windows 7 Open Control Panel Go to "Clock and Region" > "Region" Select the "Administrative" tab Continue from step 4 of the Windows 10 instructions Quote Link to comment

rangatan 7 Posted March 11, 2019 Please help, I can't figure out how to manipulate the music files to get the dummy ones to get the game working. I know that I have to duplicate them and rename the Japanese files, but all of the BGM files are in numbers, not Japanese. If anyone has any pointers, or maybe a ZIP file containing the fixed BGM folder, that would be greatly appreciated. Quote Link to comment
anonymousJS 12 Posted March 16, 2019 @rangatan To extract the zip file properly, the program doing the unzipping needs to be using the Japanese locale for non-Unicode programs. On Windows 10 open Settings > Time & Language > Language and click "Administrative language settings" on the right sidebar. Then click "Change system locale", answer yes to the admin prompt, and select "Japanese" from the drop-down menu. You will be asked to restart your system for the changes to take effect. Once you've unzipped the file, you can change the locale back by following the same steps but choosing "English" instead. Alternatively, I've very recently discovered a way to do this without bothering the system settings. I literally just figured out the bare minimum of what you need to get this to work not even 5 minutes ago so please tell me if it works for you as well. Install Locale Emulator 2.4.0.0 or higher. You can download from here. Obtain a 32-bit copy of 7-zip. There are two ways of doing this: installing the 32-bit x86 version of 7-zip (IDK if it will mess up existing installs yet) or install 7-ZipPortable from PortableApps.com. If you used the regular install, go to C:\Program Files (x86)\7-Zip\. If you used the PortableApps version, go to (installation folder)\App\7-Zip\. Delete the Lang folder. This will prevent it from displaying all of the menus in Japanese. Select 7zFM.exe and right click. Hover over "Locale Emulator" and select "Run in Japanese" Extract your file using the interface. Please tell me how that works for you. Quote Link to comment
rangatan 7 Posted March 16, 2019 (edited) @anonymousJS Oh yeah, I should probably mention that I'm mainly using a Linux operating system. Thanks, I think it worked out fine for me on the other Windows OS that I also have on my end. Edited March 16, 2019 by rangatan (see edit history) Quote Link to comment
anonymousJS 12 Posted March 17, 2019 Found this on Ask Ubuntu. Try `unzip -O shift-jis` on the file. Quote Link to comment
