Desperation and length of line

  1. 1. Age: What is the age of the girl?

    • 11 years or younger
      0
    • 12 years
    • 13 years
    • 14 years
    • 15 years
    • 16 years
    • 17 years
    • 18 years or older
  2. 2. Desperation: On a scale of 0 to 10, how desperate is this girl to pee as of the time she enters the bathroom.

    • 0--empty. Couldn't pee if you tried.
      0
    • 1--almost empty. Might be able to tinkle a little if you really forced the issue, but not desperate at all.
      0
    • 2--slight desperation
      0
    • 3--only feel an urge if you're not doing anything interesting or important
      0
    • 4--slightly uncomfortable urge, but not in danger of having an accident
      0
    • 5--moderate desperation, but probably okay for a few hours.
      0
    • 6--need to go in an hour or two
    • 7--need to pee, but probably could hold it for another hour, but showing signs of desperation, where the desperation will be 9 or higher in an hour.
    • 8--feel the urge, but could probably wait another 10 or 15 minutes (but would require you to pee during class, which is not allowed)
    • 9--extremely desperate, and are most 5 minutes away from peeing your pants, and may already have some leaks on clothes.
    • 10--pretty much already peeing as is (hopefully not in your pants)
  3. 3. Line: Assuming there is not an open stall, how many girls are ahead of her in line? (Keep in mind, we are talking about 5 minute passing periods with 3 toilets available, with 50 minute class periods where she can't be late, and can't use the bathroom during class. And as mentioned earlier, it takes each girl a minimum of 1 minute to pee. Cutting in line is not allowed regardless of desperation level, and assume that all girls ahead of line will take their turn and do #1--pee--only, and also remember that peeing in sink, trash can, floor, water bottle, desk, or chair is not allowed).

As some of you may know, boys can generally get in and out of the bathrooms pretty quickly (sometimes as quickly as 20 or 30 seconds), but it's not as easy for girls because there might be a long line and you don't know what's going on.  They have to undo pants, and don't know if they have to do #1 or #2 or both.  At the very least, you can pretty much guarantee that it will take each girl a minimum of a minute to get into the stall, do their business, and exit the stall.  You may also know that some schools may not let people be late to school or a given class, or use the bathroom during class.  So, I thought I'd spell out the general rules before asking questions.

1)   There are five minutes between classes, and 50 minute class periods.

2) Can’t be late, and can’t use the restroom during class without some sort of disciplinary action, and asking the teacher to use the restroom before class will not work.

3)  There are three toilets available in each girls bathroom (and there are either two or three total sets of restrooms in the building, not counting the nurse's restroom or the gym locker rooms).

     4)  There are at least 800 students in this school (and at least 400 of them are girls), possibly more.

     5) There is a tall, skinny blonde girl (probably more than one) that  really needs to pee during one of the passing periods between classes.

     6) This girl in question arrives at the restroom closest to her next class somewhere between the 1 and 2 minute mark (probably closer to the 2 minute mark) of break time (meaning there are about 3 or 4 minutes to go before the next class).

I have three questions on the poll, but here are some other interesting questions.

1)  What should this girl's name be?

2)  What is the age and grade of this girl (should be between 11 and 18 years of age, and between grades 6 and 12)?

3)  What is the grade range of this school (for example 6th grade only, 7th/8th grade only, 9th through 12th grade, or even 6th grade through 12th grade)?  I think the grade range should be at least 2 or 3 grades.

4)  What is she wearing on that particular day?

5)  On a scale of 1 to 10, how desperate is she to pee (or to put it another way, how full is her bladder)?

6)  How many girls are ahead of her in line, and how desperate do they look?  (Remember that there are only three toilets available in each girls bathroom.  Also remember that there are only five minutes between classes and that they can't be late and also can't use the bathroom during class).

Just coming from a male perspective, we are often only faster as there are more toilets, cos open toilets take less space and thus more can be fitted in. Quite often (especially in a school setting where shirts are tucked in and blazers are worn) we aren't really any faster (I think?)

I don't really know about that.  Considering I'm not a girl, we'd have to ask some girls that have been in that situation.  My thinking is that boys bathrooms have mostly urinals with only a few toilets, so if they have to pee only, it's probably faster (more on that in a moment), but if they have to do #2, it's probably about the same and maybe a little slower than girls since there are less places where they can "pop a squat" or however you call it.  Maybe in a situation where the girls bathroom has three toilets, the boys bathroom has two urinals and a toilet, or maybe has three urinals and one or two toilets.

Certain potty parity laws may require that there to be at least as many (if not) more cubicles for the girls than for boys, because from the standpoint of peeing, boys usually can just unzip their pants, take out their "thing", and pee and be done in a minute or less.  But girls have to enter a stall, pull down their pants, skirt, or whatever, pee, and then pull their pants back up.  In any case, I was also thinking that while guys may only have to wait for either a urinal or toilet to open up if they have to pee, a girl has to wait for a toilet to open up, and if one or more girls are doing #2, then they may be waiting a while.

I also tend to think that given the same age group, that boys are more likely to be able to hold their pee for longer periods of time than girls, because they have a penis, so are more likely to be able to control it better.  So a boy with a desperation of 8 or 9 may still be able to hold it for a little while longer, but a girl with the same level desperation, probably needs to pee pretty soon, or she'll be more likely to pee her pants.  Therefore, given the combination of possibly less facilities available for the girls, plus the fact that they naturally are going to take longer to pee because they have to move than just unzip, plus the fact that they probably need to pee more often, this is where I get the idea that lines in the girls bathrooms have the potential to be longer than in the boys bathrooms, and I would guess the same holds true in a school setting.

I would think (or at least hope) that most schools aren't so strict in their bathroom policies that people aren't ever allowed to be late, nor use the bathroom during class, but you never know, because it seems to vary from school to school, and possibly from teacher to teacher.  But if we operate on these assumptions, you might have the potential to see several girls from various classrooms make a mad dash to the bathroom right after the dismissal bell rings, hoping to get there before the line gets too long.  And the ones who have longer to walk to get to the bathroom are at a disadvantage, because by the time they get to the bathroom, there may already be a long line.  So you might have a 14 year old freshman named Emily (just to throw a random name out there), that has a desperation of 9 out of 10 (so about 5 minutes away from peeing her pants), get to the bathroom with three stalls occupied and a line of 5, 6, or 7 girls ahead of her for 3 toilets, in a 5 minute passing period, and each girls almost certainly needs at least a minute to do their business.   We'll say there 7 girls ahead of her in line, and Emily enters the bathroom at about the 1 1/2 minute mark of transition time, so she has 3 1/2 minutes left, and her next class is about 20 or 30 seconds away.

Assume going to the boys bathroom is not allowed, and finding another girls bathroom will just be a waste of time (plus there will probably be a line there as well).  Also assume that you're not really "allowed" to pee in the sink, trash can, floor, water bottle, desk, chair etc. so that means if you don't make it to a toilet, you will pee your pants (and it will be noticeable the rest of the way because you don't have a change in clothes).  As mentioned earlier, there will be consequences if you're late or have to use the bathroom during class, and asking your next teacher for permission to use the bathroom before class will only make you later and not excuse the tardy.  And last, but not least, cutting in line is not allowed regardless of desperation, and you have to assume that each girl ahead of you in line is going to wait it out (whether the have time to or not), and be in there to only pee, and will probably take each of them an average of a minute (maybe a minute and a half) to do their business.  So we're looking at a 2 plus minute wait minimum.

In this extremely unlikely scenario and set of circumstances (hopefully it's very unlikely, but it may be an every day occurrence in some places), what would you suggest Emily and the rest of the girls to do?

In regards to your other questions:

1) Anna

2) 18 years old

3) 9-12

4) a romper with a zipper and shoelace tie in the back

5) With whole numbers, a 10; with numbers behind a decimal point, a 9.5.

6) For curiosity, I would say a 5 by 3 setup based on the number of stalls, so 3 stalls means 3 lines and 5 people each totals 15 people.

Sounds interesting, but some lines may go faster than others, so I tend to favor a single line for all the stalls combined, which would mean in this scenario 15 girls ahead of her in line for 3 stalls.  And if she's that desperate to pee and the line is that long, she's in an almost impossible situation.
